What are your thoughts on this?  
 
I happen to agree with this ban. In Canada we have enough of an issue with overflowing SPCA and rescues to be bringing more homeless dogs from other countries. The other countries need to fix their own problems around this issue. Plus bringing dogs in from other countries increase the risk of bacteria/viruses/canine diseases that will affect our dogs. Let those countries fix their own problem. We have enough to deal with here.

Holland resolved their own street dog situation and homed every dog by implementing an intense spay/neutering program.

My point in starting this thread is to point out that importing street dogs from other countries is a futile solution until we get our own problem resolved. Rescues are full. We cannot be bringing more dogs into an already overburdened situation.  
While there are standards in place for dogs/pets brought into this country, dogs brought in from other countries increase the risk of rabies and other canine diseases in our own country.

Humans created this situation. We need to come together to fix it.

I tend to agree that if is a good thing to ban imports from certain countries. We do not need any extra diseases brought in from elsewhere. And yes, there are so many animals already here that need rescue and good homes.

I 100% agree with the ban. These Dog rescue organizations in Canada should rescue the street dogs here in Canada!
