Giving mixed breed dogs "cute" names

Just wanted to vent about one of my biggest 'pet' peeves. I can't tolerate people giving mixed breed dogs 'cute' names like they are a breed. Don't get me wrong, I love mutts and have two of my own - and when people ask me what kind of dog I have, I proudly say 'a mutt'. But a beagle-pug mix is just that, a beagle pug mix, as is a maltese-yorkshire terrier mix, as is a cocker spaniel-poodle mix....etc etc etc. Why oh why do people insist on trying to make a dog into a breed that doesn't exist?!?
