Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything like this with their cats before and if I can get some advice from those who might have.  
 
I have a kitten that is probably 8-9 months old. I have had him in my house for the last 6 months and he has been a normal kitten. He started freaking out whenever new people came into the house a couple months ago (meaning hissing and curling up in a ball and letting out a horrifying squeal). he would sit right beside them for 10-15 minutes and then all of a sudden when they look at him, he would freak. when he did this i would usually just take him into another room and leave him there until he calmed down.  
 
now last week he started acting even funnier and is afraid to go into my living room now, where he used to spend the majority of his time. you can play and cuddle with him in any other room but as soon as you walk into the living room with him he buries his face into you, starts to whine and runs out of the room as soon as you let go of him. he will not go into the room willingly on his own.  
 
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this with their cat? i have had many cats over the years and have never seen them act like this. he was sick last week but has seen a vet and that has been dealt with. i told them about his odd behaviour and they did not think it had anything to do with him being sick. would really like to know if anyone else has had to deal with anything like this before?
