Puppy training help

We have a bassent hound puppy who is about 9 weeks old. We are currently trying to train him to stop chewing, stop the howling constantly and potty training. We have also realized the due to his breed he does not take well to punishment. and will be spiteful to you for it. Anyone offer some advice?
