I have witnessed several acts this summer of pet owners leaving their doggies in their car with the windows cracked 1 or 2" while they're in the store doing errands. It breaks my heart to see these poor animals barking and crying because they're uncomfortable. Every vehicle that has an animal left in it on hot humid days gets reported by me. I don't care if your 5 mins, do you know that in under 1 min in high temperatures your vehicle can easily heat up to over 100 degrees! Why are people so cruel and stupid. I want to do something to save these poor creatures. I sat in my vehicle with the windows barely cracked for a couple of mins before I started my car and just about died from the heat, imagine having a fur coat on too. Why aren't there fines for people that do this. It's animal cruelty. These people should be punished, they don't deserve to own pets. Even more disturbing is how I see small children left in the vehicle with the windows all the way down. So they're smoking hot and could be kidnapped by anyone. I urge everyone that witnesses children and animals left in vehicles in this hot weather to take the time to report the plate # and vehicle description to customer service. They will page you for 5 mins, and if the owner won't come animal control WILL be called and they will smash the window out to save the animal. I seen this happen at the mall. Please take the time to save these animals. Is there any way to get a bylaw or fine in place for such neglect? If anyone has any info on any type of action I could take to help save these animals I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for listening.
