Hi everyone! :D
I just wanted to share my extremely positive experience. I have never called a mobile vet unit until a couple days ago. I am thrilled by my experience and i am sure all my pets are thanking me for it too! lol

Most of my animals are very stressed if they have to travel to Brandon and enter into a vet clinic so I usually avoid taking them unless it's absolutely necessary. :/

This vet (Dr.Mawer) came right to my door! She EVEN gave me the choice to assess my pets inside the comfort of my home or inside her state of the art, spotless, brand new traveling vet clinic. Since my one cat in particular has very high stress with medical exams, due to much trauma in his life, I chose to have her come into my home for the assessments and vaccinations.

She was so patient as she let the animals come around and have a sniff and get comfortable while we started some paper work. Although my one cat did still experience some stress during the exam it was very brief and he was able to recuperate from his exam quickly being that he was in his own home. &lt:3 (He is usually stressed for an entire day if i have to take him into Brandon for an exam...what a huge difference!).

Dr.Mawer brought with her treats for the dogs that she said she made fresh that morning! Peanut butter ones! My dogs both loved the treats and loved her and their exams went so smoothly!... even the vaccinations!

Just wanted to share! I will never put my animals into a cage and stress them out in a vehicle or vet clinic again! I am over the moon about this! I love my babies and hate to see them stressed....which in turn stressing me out. lol

Highly recommended!...not sure if there are other traveling units out there but i highly recommend using them...unless you have pets that love to travel of course

Just wondering what the cost difference was between a regular vet and a travelling vet? Does she travel outside of Brandon?

Yes she does travel outside of Brandon. I am not sure how far but i am a good 15 min south of Brandon and she had no problem with this distance and sounds like she would travel farther if needed.

The cost was very reasonable. If i had to take all my animals to a vet appointment in Brandon (two or three trips plus time etc) I would spend more in gas then she charged for the travel cost. It was very reasonable. As far as the cost of the assessments i think it is comparable to any vet appointment i have ever had.

I will try to find her web page and post it here and i am sure she can answer you more specifically with your questions. She is very fair and reasonable.

We used this service for our dog just this past weekend. Dr.Mawer and her Assistant were very good with our guy and with us. The cost was very affordable and they came late at night. I would recommend their service.

Dr. Mawer is great. We had to put our dog down last month and we called her to come out. It was nice to be able to say goodbye at home with her surrounded by family and her daughter.

Her fees were comparable to the vets in Brandon. She was kind and compassionate. She even delivered her ashes.

I strongly recommend her.

With Dr. Liana Mawer's sister-in-law. I wanted her to know that her new service is greatly appreciated in Brandon. Makes those of us that live up north jealous.

I used to have a mobile veterinarian in Winnipeg and really missed the service. I appreciate that you posted this as I now have two cats and one of them is so difficult to get to the vets office. Picking her up is like holding a live alligator in your arms, as she writhes and squirms so much. It gets quite deadly as her claws come out at the same time.

Brandon2012 I totally agree! I have never had a problem at Grand Valley, they are always really good to me and my pup! Didn't know they had a mobile service though, good to know!

Grand Valley is a good clinic but regular clinics are limited in how many house calls they can do/year unless licensed as a mobile cat/dog practice. I know they are licensed to do large animal mobile work but I'm not sure about small animals. I also have ability to do surgery and dentals in the clinic.

Cost wise though I think they are less expensive (they don't have to pay for a unit or run a generator and their vehicles use less gas ..LOL).

They can offer some services I can't though to be fair. They can do ultrasound and have the only well trained ultrasound person in the city. They can also do x-rays (digital and can even do dental x-rays) and provide intensive care where I cannot. So pros/cons for you all as well.

So just thought I'd comment for information purposes.
