You are sure you want to feed the squirrels?

You will stop feeding the squirrels when they find a warm cozy spot in your garage or house. Nasty devils.

You may have this backwards! One usually feeds bluejays and discourages squirrels. There is a segment of the population that view squirrels as rats with fluffy tails!

Get a bird house that the squirrel will just fit through, then drill another hole on the side that would fit a jar, put the food in the jar part. The blue jays won't be able to fit to get the food (other birds will but..). If you look online under squirrel feeder you can see pictures of what I mean. You can also look for one where they have to lift the lid to grab the food (most birds won't be able to lift the lid) again. There's a picture on Google. You might have to order online.  
 
I feed the squirrels too and they haven't caused any problems as of yet... They have a nest in the tree and haven't decided to move into the house or garage, I guess they like there tree.

I highly recommend a visit to Winnipeg to checkout this little store. The owners will be very helpful and accommodating. I have attached a web page regarding squirrels. Love them or hate them.  
 
I personally try NOT to feed the squirrels as I agree that if they find a home in my buildings it will be a nasty clean up, after they clear out.
