Recently adopted a kitten and he has had diarea for a cpl days now. I called the vet and they told me to stop mixing formula in his food. And to just use water instead. But he wont eat it with just the water and doesnt know how to drink without snorting the water. :/ anyone have any advice on how to get him to either drink water or get water into him?

Phone another vet to see if they have a different suggestion  
He mostly likely needs more than water- maybe a different formula

just so you know most cats cannot handle milk , so what ever you do no milk.. Wish i could offer more advise good luck, we do actually give our cats lactose free milk occasionally

Kitten replacement or goats milk. Cow milk is hard to digest for most mammals

you mixing the formula with dry food?  
 
I know some people do & if that''s the case you could try switching to wet food & adding a tiny bit of water. Kitty might be more inclined to eat it.  
 
Also, you could likely try a dropper to give water or appropriate kitten formula as advised by your vet. We've used baby droppers while kitty is calm & cuddling to get water/formula/medicine into them when told to by the vet.  
 
I''m by no means an expert or a vet, an office visit to your vet would likely be the best course of action.

I used to work with dogs and cats. Diarrhea is caused by different factors, parasitic, bacterial, viral or diet to name a few. While you are not yet seing your vet, try probiotics such as yogurt (unflavored) it will be like a natural antibiotics. Make sure she is always hydrated and try to stop the formula if she is a bit older so u can figure out what is causing the diarrhea. Try to soak the cat food with water and mix it with meat cat food to stimulate the appetite and will help him get used to it. Hope my advice helped.

Gets kitten formula not cows milk or anything i made sure to get kitten formula. He will be 6 weeks next week. He still has it though even after stopping the formula. He only eats soft food and i chose a food super low in ash. Its one of the best foods for them and the only food i found that is small enough for him to eat. I was wondering if probiptics might help as i have some bene bac probiotics i could give. Im just waiting on the vets to open to call again

The kitten was probably taken from the mother too soon

I agree. Had i known i wouldnt have taken him so soon. He seems to be doing better after the probiotics. And my female cat has been teaching him too so shes sort of substituting mum.

You can buy kitten milk in the pet section at any store! I know when our cat was a kitten you can rip up a piece of bread and soak it if it hasn't figured out how to drink from a bowl yet! Hope the little baby gets better!
