I had originally posted on the discussion `Dogs Horribly Beaten` but felt it was not the appropriate place to post so removed this and have started a new discussion here. I am wondering if other people have had dogs gone missing from their yards recently?  
 
On Monday afternoon two dogs disappeared from a well fenced back yard in Souris. Because there have only been two sightings since their disappearance, which is very unusual for such a busy town during a weekday afternoon, suspicions have definitely increased. The RCMP have been alerted and they are taking this very seriously, having stopped at my son`s home this morning for any more information. We haven`t even told him and his girlfriend about the beaten dogs as they are already beside themselves with concern. Hopefully the police will capture these belly-crawlers ... too bad the days of public pillories isn`t available for this.

I saw the BALA listing on facebook for the two missing Souris fur babies. I shared it and hope others have too. Do you have a link and/or photos of the two missing dogs so that eBrandoners can keep a keen eye out for them too?  
 
I hope they are found alive and safe.

I don't understand how anyone could do such harm to helpless beings. I hope they are found and dragged through coals. We have a 2 1/2 month old puppy and I would be devastated to be in that type of a situation.

We are hoping this is just a coincidence but feel at the very least the gate was opened so the dogs would run. We have inquired with the town and local animal control officer and there haven't been any complaints reported.  
I managed to post a photo although the one of Eddie Junior is a similar one as he is extremely timid and doesn't take a good photo.  
Lilly is a black lab cross with white on her chest and some on her paws, about three years old. She is extremely friendly.  
Eddie Junior is a rescue dog about five years old, he is wire haired, black with white flecks, medium sized. Eddie is extremely timid and will run if approached. For this reason we are hoping sightings will be reported to us and his best friend (and owner) can call him in. We are all anxious to have them home again.  
 
I do hope we can come back with a good report.

the dogs are found unharmed. I saw the posting on FB and did immediately think of the beaten dogs. There has been too much of this going on all over-thefts of dogs, shooting of horses and cattle-it is worrisome.

I am the owner of duke and dutchess. This issue needs to be addressed and need to not be taken lightly anymore. You can only do so much to protect them. They are just like children you have to be able to make sure you can make sure your babies are safe

We will never know what happened but we do know they were let out of the yard by someone and both dogs were so scared that they were hiding. We were able to get hold off Lilly but Junior bolted and even his best friend couldn't talk him back (even with Lilly). It just happened that with the help of Souris folk that he was able to be captured. He is a very timid dog to start with but it is obvious something happened to really scare them. I wish the out come could have been the same for Duke and Duchess ... Some how the as...I les who did this must be caught and pay for their crimes. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the good news about your furry family members. I am sorry that Eddie Junior was so scared. I am glad whoever took them didn't hurt them.  
 
I just don't understand how people can treat other loving beings so badly and not take into consideration their well being.  
 
Thank you for keeping us posted and letting us know that Lilly and Eddie Junior are home safely. If only they could tell their story!

Lock your gates, so this does not happen again

gate was locked, someone going for a stroll in back lane was kind enough to unlock it for me and open it enough for the dog to get out.  
 
Luckily no kids with ice cream this time of year so all I had to do was start the vehicle and he was by the passenger door waiting to go for a ride.

Please lock your gates with padlocks!

are seeing the same problem with LOTS (> 8 in my area alone) of missing dogs (especially) but also cats. I know for SURE that one dog was "found" by a man but when the owners contacted him, he said that the dog had "chewed through the leash" & gotten away again. THAT is a load of Old Betsy Trott as far as I'm concerned. The "finder" stole the dog & is now lying about its whereabouts. And unfortunately I've read that there are "dog nappers" stealing pets in our area to use in dog fight rings. Really a sad situation for the dogs & their owners.
