my friend got bite by a dog that was on leash by the owners and we are needing to find them in the area of 8th- between park and college! They said he has had his rabies shots- they were  
He is in need of the rabies tag number so it can get confirmed that there needs no extra needles in the very near future

Have you contacted animal control they may be able to help you

what kind of dog bit your friend? The dog was on a leash? Owners didn't have much control over their own animal? That's appalling!

Why did the dog bit you and is it aggressive? What kind of dog was it, any information would help us

Do you also have a description of the owner?

did it draw blood? Otherwise stop crying about it and move on. Good god.

I'm assuming the medical doctors asked for the information as they are actually seeking the rabies tag number as proof of vaccination. It's a public health issue.  
 
OP - hope your friend finds them. I hear the rabies series is nasty.

Ryan yes it drew blood I am not an idiot .wouldn't be asking otherwise not my fav thing to sit in the hospital for hours and hours waiting on many injections.

Yes he now in the emerg having to get painful needles for the next 3 weeks and Manitoba health is now involved  
 
 
the owners had walked their dog on leach at around 11 pm that Saturday night was trying to get his dog back and leashed dog bit his right arm and drew blood!

People get bit by dogs all the time, you don't need all those needles. If the dog had its rabies vaccine then he's fine! Just trust the owners. Dogs can't go to a vet anymore without proof of the vaccine otherwise the vet has to administer it to the dog so chances are the dog has been vaccinated. If it were a farm dog that would be a different story but in the city it pretty sure you can trust the owners if they said the dog has he vaccine.

It would be helpful if you could give us a des:cription of the dog and/or owners

Actually.. With an aggressive attack like that they likely will not have a choice. Hence the reason for asking for help to get the vaccination proof. The medical officer of health will be involved. Have you gave a report to animal control yet? I know they will go look.. good luck! Not that fun going every few days for a shot! Been there!!

Trust the owners? Do you understand that there is NO cure for rabies? The only outcome if you do get it is death? That's a risk I wouldn't take. And there are lots of irresponsible people don't take their animals to the vet at all.

That’s not exactly true ….. if you are bitten by an unknown dog, call emergency so you can begin rabies vaccinations right away. For any bite, be sure to clean and disinfect the wound because it can cause infection. It can be fatal but you need to go to emergency right away if you are bitten!

Was it a mastiff cross?

Ashana meant that if you come down with an actual clinical illness from rabies there is no cure. Once you are sick with rabies you die. (There has been only one case where a clinically ill person survived.) That is why this is a big deal for the OP's friend. Without proof of rabies vaccination, a bitten person must get the preventative shots to be safe.

Why are people on her jumping down the throat of the man who was bitten by the dog... For real? Its not as if he or his friend are trying to get anything out of this except a little piece of mind, and if the dog is vaccinated then whats the big deal?  
 
Trust the owners? Done be such a baby? What if this happened to one of your kids, would you want to "take a chance"?  
 
Why is the onus on the owner of the dog? Im really confused with peoples rationality, my god.
