To the busybody who berated my mom

it was necessary to stop and get out of your vehicle to berate my mother about having the family dog tethered outside, shame on you. That dog is babied and cared for, and hadn't been outside for longer than 5 minutes before you decided to rudely interrupt my mother's day with your criticisms.

I'm glad my dad was there to put you in your place, and know that you should mind your own business. No, the dog didn't have a water bowl because she had just gotten put out, and even the dog knows better than you it seems when it's too hot for her.

Why do people feel so entitled to do this? I've seen it happen to other good pet owners, and now my mother is scared to leave the dog outside in case someone steals her the moment she's not looking.

Simply put the woman is a Bully - she was no doubt a bully through school and she continues to be a bully in adult life. She saw your mother as a vulnerable person, and could see there was no water dish for the dog, so she used the situation as an oppertunity to exercise her bullying tactics. This no doubt gave her pleasure at your mothers expense.

that people can make such rash assumptions about people and circumstances they know nothing about. The whole neighbourhood just about knows of our dog and that we treat her with love and care, if they felt otherwise then animal control would of been called a lot sooner.

I guess just let this be a PSA of sorts on trying to stop this kind of behaviour. If you see a dog tethered outside, it doesn''t mean it''s being mistreated. Our dog is a husky and for anyone who knows the breed, they know that the one thing huskies love most is being outside. Would be unfair to keep the dog inside all the time. So to anyone like the lady who berated my mother or has done similar in the past, please think of your actions before causing undue stress to people and animals you know nothing about.

Build a fence. Then you would not have to worry about the opinions of people. Also your pooch would love being able to walk freely in your yard compared to being tethered. My neighbors recently built a fence and there dogs seem so much happier then when they were tethered up.

they love to run.... that's how I was fortunate enough to adopt a Husky mix from the pound because the owners couldn't stand the 'escapes' any more. Lucky for me!

That's just it, people don't mind their own business. Glad your Dad was there to speak his mind.

Didn't matter is the temperature was 40 below we still had to go walkies

Building a fence can be expencive (not always an option)

I agree I wish people would just mind there own business. My dog means more to me then most human lives, I take her everywhere I can, I shop at businesses that allow animals in the store even if they are more expensive. Have had people say you shouldn't have your dog in the store, well to bad the store allows it, if you don't like shop somewhere else. I have had so many people tell me my dog shouldn't have her head out the window, I just raise my middle finger and whisper the words STFU, and now the busy body makes me look like the bad guy.
