Storm preps

As we know that a storm is coming. What prep do you do for these events? Depending where you live, town or rural. Do you stock up on necessities? If you have wood heat, extra wood, generator for power issues? Do you do anything extra? As a rural resident, with wood heat, we bring extra wood in, check the generator, extra food on hand. What does everyone else do?

Went to the store and forgot the milk and they didn’t have the one main thing I went for...I’m great at this whole prepping thing

I’m in denial still...it’s not happening! It’s a beautiful spring like day out there and it’s gonna miss us

Make sure I have groceries, pet food and hat on hand-no not want to be at the point of being low on any of that with the intention of getting it "tomorrow". That way i know we are good if i do not get out of the yard for a few days. No wood heat and no generator so best i can do is HOPE the power doesn't go out. We have been lucky over the years that our power has rarely gone out- We seem to be on a pretty good line right here and we have been out only a few hours at most, and that was when a car took out a pole.

Called our snow removal guy we used last year and made arrangements for him to come push snow out of the driveway lol

Juggler99 - I was on the same wave length. I don't have anyone to call to clear the driveway and was wondering what I will do!

Who knows the storm might not even happen. Looks like we have missed half the snow already.

It hasn't "missed us", it's not arrived yet. Every forecast for days has been saying late Sunday into Monday will be the bulk of it.

It's not like a thunderstorm, which can hit a single town or thunderstorm and miss down the road. It's a huge system that while notoriously hard to predict, is basically hitting us from Regina to Winnipeg.

To anwer the OP, we're in town but we make sure we have everything on hand including dog food, etc. Just crossing our fingers that the power stays on with the wind as we don't have supplemental heat or a way to cook if it goes.

As far as us, we cut a mini road trip out West short by a day. Saskatchewan had a separate snow event yesterday that we wanted to get ahead of rather than drive through. Then to top things off we would'e been stuck driving through this second bigger storm on our way home which would've lined up with our original plan.

Hit up the grocery store this morning. For our neighbourhood at least once you get into even 10-15cm snowfalls it makes it real tough to get around until the plows make it by. If we get whats forecasted our neighbourhood streets will probably be packed down by tracks in a way that make them 1-way roads. Not like we couldn't get out if we had to (knock on wood), but figure the less trips on fresh snow the better. If by some miracle we don't get what they've forecasted then hey I still dont have to shop for a few days

We live in Souris. The guy I used last year was awesome. Even did the driveway when I was down south in Wyoming. Came home to a clean driveway, thank goodness for small towns!!

Nothing.. these things never last long. We live in town and the roads are fine. You just have to take your time. Business as usual in our house.

we always try to have some thawed meat in the fridge to either bbq or fondue. Nothing is better than a warm meal when the power is out! Jerry cans filled up and water jugs filled up too.
