Is your friend licensed for firearms? If so, he is fine to possess and transport the firearms, as long as they fall within the classes of firearms he is authorized for. If not, he has to be the executor of the estate in order to have a deemed license, which lasts as long as it reasonably takes to dispose of the firearms. If he does not have a license, nor is the executor, then he will be best off not being in posession of the firearms.
A few others have mentioned the site, and it is my favorite for buying and selling guns online: canadiangunnutz.com . But it may not work out for you and your friend as there are a few obstacles. You are not allowed to list guns for someone else on gunnutz. So your friend who is not "technology comfortable" would have to sign up to the forum, then after a post or two, request to sign up for the equipment exchange and then abide by the rules of the forum (and there are a number).
He would also have to do his homework as to the value of each, and the condition. Selling a rifle as "very good condition" but with a bad bore or a broken part will just get you bad feedback and an unhappy customer.
In your friends case, the option of putting the rifles on consignment to one of the shops like Jo Brooks, Wolverine, or possibly Cabellas in Winnipeg, would possibly be the better option. Those shops can appraise the guns, and it''s in their best interest as well to get the best price.
Another option is to get them to McSherry Gun Auction (coming up in a few weeks). Prices there are pretty good, although the auction house will take a serious chunk of the selling price.
