Sorry to say this, but...

I like the old system of fixing pot holes. Four guys, three shovels and a one ton truck full of cold fill. Sure, it's not as fast as the "elephant trunk truck" spoofing black crap everywhere but deep into the hole. But, the stuff is actually in the hole when done by hand and it usually lasts long enough to get properly fixed when the street finally dries up. Now I get it that the labor costs gets out of hand when the pay is set too high and only one guy out of the four knows how to use a shovel. But this can easily be fixed with student programs, work experience/internships or work for welfare and have the city management "grow some balls" and fight back with those "organized extortionists" called unions. I've never seen such horrible conditions happening to our streets during the spring thaw from years past. What happened? ...The answer is money and the reliance of technology will solve and do everything. All this expensive fancy crap is fine and dandy in California, filling cracks... But sometimes we just need to simply use some elbow grease to get the easy jobs done right.
All it takes is a couple of guys with a shovel at $12.00 and hour instead of a near million dollar machine with an operator at over $28.00 per hour.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
