There used to be a weekly free poker game that ran at Houston's years ago, and then later at the Crystal.  
 
Does anyone know of any poker games like that, currently running in Brandon?  
 
To make sure messages aren't removed please only comment on legal games.

Ok, I received a PM and also called down.  
 
A new poker "season" just started and game is approved by MB Lotteries. It's free to enter and a decent prize for the winner of the final worth approx $500 or so (there might be a second prize as well?).  
 
Mon Tues @ 7 pm (be 15 min early to get seat)  
 
15,000 starting Chips  
 
100, 200 blinds to start  
 
blinds go up every 20 mins  
 
"A" side top 7 get points for the final game.  
First group of people to go out have an option for "B" side game that can still earn points.  
 
Top 15 in the points standing play the final for the prizes. If I get more info or made any errors I will post again to clarify.

I'm assuming the buy in is free??  
 
I can't see many people playing a "season" for only one person to win approx $500. Usually these type of games don't attract many decent legit poker players either.  
 
If you want to find a regular game with people that can usually play poker and don't mind driving a half hour Sandhills usually has a couple tables on the weekends.

Yes the buy in is free at the Decker, and pretty good poker as well.  
 
I've never played been out at the casino but I hear it's a terrible game out there.

Just spoke with Mitch, the person who runs the Decker poker game, and the season is only 8 weeks long. He said many of the players are long term regular players, and that it's usually a pretty solid game.  
 
I've tried Sandhills and it's OK, but not the best quality play. Only ever been 1 table when I've been there.  
 
I'll head to the game Monday and post back.

Went to the game last night at the Decker and and it was run very well as well as good quality play. Better than most cash games in the local casinos.  
 
A few pointers:  
 
-Usually in the Guinness Room downstairs(a bit hidden).  
-Show up a few minutes early for seating.  
-In addition the the main prize worth $500-$600 there is a  
second place cash prize of $100-$150.  
-Games are every Monday and Tuesday so come down as often  
as possible to accumulate points for the big game.  
 
The person running it(Mitch), is trying to make an E-Brandon account to answer questions. As soon as the account is approved he said he will post here.
