Not sure why you are stuck on going to Wpg.  
 
But we have one of the best back surgeons in North America right here in Brandon !!!! We are very lucky to have him here in Westman

Spelling is close but not perfect.  
 
Back surgeries are definitely last resort. Sucks if u need it done.  
I know many here in town that have had a successful surgery.....including myself !!!

He just operated on my back last week, & I was released from hospital 4 days later.

is better at fixing backs than he is fixing feet? Because my one foot wasn't done properly. You would think that feet would be easier to fix than a spinal issue.

Pawprints, you are the one whose wording is not correct. An orthopedic surgeon treats the MSK system, including joints, bones, muscles, nerves, tendons. An orthopedic surgeon does treat feet, but also backs. Some will specialize in one area (ie- there are some that only do hip and knee replacements, or who specialize in backs).

foot specialist is a Podiatrist  
 
Orthopedic is anything related to musculoskeletal.

It would seem people in Brandon think they have the best surgeon so you might be out of luck on here. Try rate my md, you can search specialties.

For this suggestion, it seems as though some can’t think outside the box of Brandon!

My Dr recommended Morden/Winkler for orthopedic surgery. Dr De Meulanaire(sp??) has a VERY long waiting list. 18 months is normal. Boundary Trails hospital in Morden was a 3 month wait. Ask your Dr for a referral.

I suggest looking into Boundary Trails Hospital between Morden and Winkler. They have at least 3 doctors that could treat you as well as a place for you and your family to stay during your recovery and physiotherapy treatment: Katie's Cottage.

You might also want to try contacting the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg. I understand they have a walk-in clinic but I’ve been told you have to be there early in the morning to get in line if you want a chance at seeing someone. You could check their website and read the bios on the medical team to determine if they have any ortho surgeons who specialize in back care/surgery then ask your family doctor for a referral.  
 
Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg has a hip and knee centre; I haven’t heard that they do back surgery but perhaps a call to them and they could suggest an appropriate clinic and/or surgeon.
