just a heads up, the charcoal/briqette ones will start off very inexpensive, but by the time you get a good one you can buy an inexpensive propane model.
if you go briquette, try the actual "charcoal" rather than the black briquette premolded which have a bunch of chemicals in it, and if the coals are not all completely white when you put your meat on it will taste it.
I tried the self light type one time, i really did not like them.
try the charcoal that is made out of actual wood that is heat charred. bit more money but better flavour and no chemicals. and get a chimney style lighter that you fill with paper rather a bottle lighter fluid.
takes time so a little patience,
