So with what has happened to Massey Manor could it be possible that victims could get into the almost vacant apartment building? I am aware of a ventilation issue but could this be pushed to fix for these displaced residents with perhaps provincial assistance?!

What are your thoughts?

of been fixed a few years ago!! Manitoba Housing needs a swift kick in the arse to get that building occupied again.

My impression is that the whole building's ventilation system is below current code. That's a lot of tearing out walls, and probably requires the building to be totally unoccupied.

my thoughts are thst manitoba housing is not competent to manage rental housing . they seem to have many problems in winnipeg as well . the govt needs to find cost effective ways to provide affordable housing .

The empty building ever pass code for ventilation? It must have passed code at the beginning of its existence right? What has happened that is doesn’t pass now?

I believe the codes have changed a lot since it was built.

our building doesn't have hvac: you can notice it. it is a pool of stagnant air. every smell and smoke lingers. I want the agency to upgrade, but good luck.

Even if they can’t get people in immediately because of the ventilation issues, maybe this will give Manitoba Housing a kick in the right direction to get this building back up to code. Easier and cheaper to fix up an already existing building than to build a new one. And in the meantime it’d be a good solution until they can rebuild.
