The only real permanent markers for lane delineation are reflective markers fastened to the road itself. These really only work in southern climates where snow clearing isn't performed, such as LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami, etc. Here, they use a rubberized epoxy that has a reflective trait. Remember, theses roads are scraped, brushed, swept and abused. There is no paint on earth that could last forever.
