Wonder whats going on with the Shoppers Mall. Why are we losing all these clothing stores and getting more restaurants? We really need a good shoppers mall. If they think adding more restaurants in the mall parking lot to increase traffic in the mall, I'm sorry, they are wrong.  
 
It is creating less parking and we aren't gaining any clothing stores.

No one shops in stores anymore, especially for clothes. I wouldn’t be surprised if shopping malls became non existent in the next decade.  
It’s way too easy to buy things online for a better price than in stores...

Won’t go to a self checkout because it’s costing someone a job but will order online instead of shopping locally.

one like to shop in the stores for clothing. I think it is stupid to be buying clothes on-line....I need to try on clothes to make sure it fits. I don’t always wear the same size clothes bc it depends on the style & brand of clothes. I can’t be bothered to be sending clothes back & being charged shipping costs everytime something doesn’t fit...it’s getting ridiculous they way companies are going....plus I refuse to give out my credit card to buy stuff on-line period!!

Clothing and shoes are two things I never buy online because I need to try them on. Sometimes it's not even the sizing, sometimes the way something is cut or the style just doesn't work on my body.

What “all these” clothing stores the original poster says are closing?

In Brandon is laughable at best.

Brandon has never had anything great for stores for a wide variety of things other than clothes, you have always had to take the 2 hr drive to winnipeg for better selection AND prices!

Agreed! I get embarrassed when family members visit and say they want to check the mall out.  
 
Morguard needs to step their game up. Bringing in restaurants within the parking lot gets no credit IMO.  
 
As for online shopping. Shoes and clothes shopping is better in store vs online. You also have to remember if you order online and the item does not fit. There are many stores that do no except returns in store or without a shipping fee that the customer needs to pay in order to return the product.

Why not use them I don’t get the “it takes jobs away” mentality. There probably would have only been 2 check outs open anyway now there are just more options to check yourself out. I’m in favour of the option.

I wonder if Morguard is in the early stages of eventually breaking the mall up altogether, leaving only the anchors and a handful of other businesses in the space. Something like Unicity in Winnipeg.

The restaurants bring people to the mall...what the owners are doing is providing visitors to Brandon an alternative to going to the north end of the city for dining options. Those pad sites will only serve to increase foot traffic at the mall. What they’re doing is brilliant.

In regard to shopping online for clothes and shoes, many offer free returns and/or return at the store

I always have a hell of a time to even find clothes in the right size in Brandon. By the time I get into town the only sizes left are either way to small, or way to big. I'm also not into flower or floral patterns at all which is what everything seems to be now a days. Online I can shop around for clothes I'm actually attracted to and would love to wear vs. buying something I'm not overly attatched to because it's not my style/

Things always tend to change. I would like to see which age groups prefer to shop in store and which prefer to shop online. If the younger groups trend towards online, that is how things will go...

there is nothing to shop at in the mall.  
 
So, the foot traffic may come, but it is full of cell phone places, shoes, hair salons.

Agreed.. nothing brillant for the mall. Brillant for the restaurants and their owners though.. when people are disappointed with the mall, they can atleast have a decent meal aftewards.

There''s 12 stores for Woman''s clothing. 5 Unisex stores, 1 Men''s store and 1 Children. There''s also 4 shoe stores. For a total of 23 stores that sell clothing. How many more do you need?

if more clothing stores pop up in the new portion of the Mall.

I lived in Brandon for 40 of my 44 years.  
 
The spots that the restaurants are being built were empty parking lot 11 months of the year, barely ever used.  
 
Morguard is doing their job, having their real estate holding create value for the investors.
