Try mixing 20 mule Borax with sugar AND water. Water is key. We tried it with no success dry, but with water, it worked. This is what our daughter used to get rid of the many red ones she had. She had to rehydrate it a second time and had put it where she found them. She hasn't had any since.
Make sure kids & animals can't access it.
