I was told u dont need a passport to go to minot.. is this true? Was thinking maybe we could head there for school supplies shopping..

Yes u need a passport or an enhanced drivers licence.

You require a valid passport to enter the US, it does not change based on where you are going.

I was told u could use a driver's license and birth certificate if ur driving but need a passport if ur flying

By Land and Sea (including ferries) - Canadian citizens traveling to the U.S. by land or sea are required to present one of the travel documents listed below, and may generally visit the U.S. for up to six months. CBP will accept: Canadian passport, Enhanced Driver's License/Enhanced Identification Card, NEXUS, FAST/EXPRES and SENTRI enrollment cards.

This spring when I bought my boat we forgot our passports. We were allowed in due to having a substantial bank cheque and our drivers licenses with us. We got chewed out to no end for not having our passports. They said they didn't have to let us through. Best is to have passport.

You need either an enhanced drivers licence or a passport. Any other suggestions otherwise should be seriously disregarded and use at your own risk. The consequences of not following the rules isn't worth it.

Seems like everyone has an opinion albet from ones who don't go to minot... But, phone the Dunseith office and tell them what you have for ID . and of course it would be better if you had an enhanced Drivers or a passprt..

Don't show up with a drivers license and act surprised when they turn you around. If you don't have a passport get one. If you don't have one I'd make sure you call the port you plan on entering and ask what your options are because they really don't care about your trip they care about verifying you're identity and citizenship.
