Noticed here too. First instinct of mine was to attribute to construction on Richmond since we’d be downstream of there, but I don’t even hook up my own toilets so what do I know about plumbing
Someone in West end that I ran it by said theirs was fine. Curious what part of town folks are noticing it in?

We are in River heights and I couldn't drink the water last night it smelled and tasted horrible. This morning the water still smelled. I'm putting a call into the city.

has funny smelling water, as well. But then, they are changing out water and sewer lines over on 18th street north, so perhaps...
But, wouldn't it be more a water treatment issue than that?

I'm by domo and it's horrible here. I thought it was just me but glad to see it not. I noticed it the last couple nights. The water tastes like I ate a mouthful of dirt yet it's clear as day.

Riverheights area,water has the same funky,moldy smell like every spring when the River is at its high point.

Curious to know the cause as well.

Does still appear to be a smell in the water at my place.

A city spokesperson has confirmed for me that there's an increased level of algae in the river over the past few days relating to how low the river is/lack of rain.
To treat they have increased the amount of potassium and carbon in the water treatment process. They stressed that it is a cosmetic thing, that the water is safe to drink and that this is expected to last for only another day or so.

Personally even though safe I'll probably be using bottled for the next day unless i've boiled it for tea or something. Taste buds have yet to adjust to the smell!

I have found that Brandon water has a cycle. It smells like weeds and swamp water for a few days then it’s like the city dumps an enormous amount of chlorine into it. Then it smells like a swimming pool for a few days. Then normal for a while and the cycle continues.

I’m glad I read this! We don’t drink the tap water but I do use it to make ice cubes. I didn’t notice a smell until I put it in a cup and smelled. It does smell like boiled corn!! Barf lol.

dog take a drink of the city water today. He immeadiatly started to lick himself. Probably trying to get rid of the water taste.

Turning a tap on and having smelly water is better than the alternative no water.

We know several people whose pastures have run out of water already. With the lack of snow last winter and no rain this summer our wells have not replenished and look forward to hauling water this winter in -40 conditions.

Yes well I live in a city for a reason and pay a pretty penny for city water (rates just went up AGAIN). Is it too much to expect decent water?

Via story in today’s Sun, the algae bloom that was causing this had dissipated by yesterday morning.

As far as the dry summer we’ve had that was a contributing factor, it looks like a big change in the forecast. As of yesterday there was a good chance of rain each of the next few days. Now it’s 30% today and that’s it through Friday

Asked me if I switched detergent to wash our clothes because his shirt stunk after I had just washed it....I too have noticed a disgusting smell which I gagged on coming out of the drains a couple of days ago....I told him to complain to the city about this....this happens quite often around our area & my house is only 8 years old....

Our water has been a yellow tint to it most of today. Very strange. By the hospital.
