I read in the paper that the East End is starting a community watch program. I think that this is a great idea. I am wondering if anyone knows the contact email to volunteer. I didn't write it down and don't have access to yesterday's paper.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that patrols will be done in my area. 7/11, Superstore area.

The election is a month away... it’s good timing to get this together. How come it didn’t happen earlier in your term Glen?

as stated in the Brandon Sun will go ahead whether or not Glen Parker gets re-elected.

Yes, I read the article. Ion glad it will go forward either way... but it still was announced a month before the election. Not during the summer when there was warmer temperatures for volunteer recruitment, training, or program start. Im just wondering why now? Why is the program announced now? Just seems a bit planned to me.

What if the other candidate had organized the same? Would you still consider it planned? It takes someone already sitting on council to go to different organizations and ask for their financial support. I'm sure that Mr. Parker did all the soliciting himself and I admire that.  
 
I think after the Bear Clan has been out and about and then the downtown ambassadors people got to thinking. For all we know this idea could have come from east end residents.

That’s the beauty of elections, in particular competitive ones. We had another candidate in another ward this past week propose cross walk improvements. Hope we see more of these kind of constructive ideas from not only candidates in races but acclaimed councillors and Mayor over the next few weeks!

Yes, any politician that rolls out with any plan now is making selective political moves. We should be critically examining them when we make our decision for October 24th. It isn’t about the promises being made right now, it’s about the action and what they’ve done for us already (if they are seeking new-election). I agree Adam, I look forward to seeing a lot of new plans... but the campaigning government promised 2 times to help build affordable family housing in the last two elections for Brandon University students and nothing came to fruition. I’m just asking people to be critical of what is being said, when it is said, and what might be the motivating factor behind it. That’s all.

People need to check their info before they start posting. We had something similar at our Cabin at the Lake with great results. The Community Watch has been in the works for months, but everything needed to be in place. I am very excited about it and will be signing up.
