Almost hit two cyclists today because THEY were breaking the law.  
 
Cyclists do NOT always have the right of way!!  
 
If you are a cyclist in Brandon please stop being ignorant and learn the rules.

The incidents were from page 16 (riding on the sidewalk & continued riding through the crosswalk) and page 17 (passing on the right when I was turning right at a controlled intersection), all three of which are illegal.  
 
Of course had I hit them the headline would have read “Motorist hits cyclist”.  
 
Will have to start blowing my horn at them and giving them the finger.

Dont know what's worse them or semi drivers I swear I've almost been killed by a couple of them lately and ive almost had enough of those guys.

Most of the time when I've seen this happen, it's the driver passing the cyclist right before their right turn, then cutting the cyclist off.  
 
Be patient, pull in behind the cyclist, then complete your turn.

I have no doubt that there are occasions when cyclist are treated badly by motorists but . . . . . . .many on bicycles break the law. They have all the rights of a vehicle on the streets / roads yet don't have to carry any insurance - none even to cover collision. Two of my friends have been hit by cyclists, both in their vehicles. Both got ticketed for hitting the cyclists & had to go to court to fight the tickets. They won of course; one cyclist riding fast on a crosswalk & the other on the sidewalk as friends car exited back lane. The sad part is that in neither case did friends pursue recovery of their deductable. In this city, cyclists get away with doing whatever they want to. I've seen a police car stop to let a cyclist ride over a crosswalk!!

There's a video on YouTube that was made here in Brandon. It's a cyclist complaining about the driver of a pick up truck. At the start of the video, you can clearly see that the cyclist rode into and through the intersection from the bike path/walkway without stopping at all. He'll probably take it down now.  
 
I have learned that when I see a cyclist to be prepared for anything. A lot of them do not follow any rules whatsoever. They don't follow the rules for drivers or pedestrians. So yeah, expect anything.

My issues are when they drive across the street on paths without stopping. Ummmmm there actually is a little stop sign for cyclists to stop before crossing roads. I have gotten flipped off so many times for not stopping when they race across the road like they had the right of way. Other is when they ride up the right side of the road past all the cars waiting at a red light, then bitch at a driver trying to turn right.
