I am currently looking into buying a leather sectional, but not sure what kind of leather to get? I was planning on getting %100 genuine leather but doing some research they say it's the lowest grade of leather...? I am finding there is so many kinds of "leather", bonded leather(not even a leather?), leather/material, cowhide leather and so on.. Also many leather couches with better leather where you sit and fake leather on sides/back of couch. What does everyone else have, is it holding up, how long have you had them? I need a leather that will withstand kids!

100% leather is what you are looking for. It means leather all over including the sides and back. Lowest grade means it’s thick. Top grade leather is thinner and softer. Usually used for purses and jackets.  
Bicast will crack and peel in 2 years or less. Same with vinyl.  
Bonded leather will also not hold up.  
There are some synthetic leathers or wipeable fabrics that are very good. They simply require wiping with water.. no chemicals. But if you get a stain and water doesn’t get it off, it can’t be cleaned - only replaced, so purchase warranty.  
There’s nothing wrong with leather match on the sides and back.. it’s the seating area you want to be leather. Hope this helps.

I purchased my couch in 2002. 100% genuine leather. Full couch is leather, the backside is still in mint condition. I use leather conditioner twice a year. It has faded and has some cats scratches but it is still in good shape considering the age. Easy to clean, I won't go into details but I mean really easy to clean!! I expected to have it for 20 years...It's almost there.

Real leather is the best way to go. I bought mine at Dufresne and the sales people helped me a lot in making a decision. I’ve had it 3 years and, even though I have dogs, it is holding up well. As was said previously there are different grades of leather - if you have kids or pets you will want a lower grade. Even if it gets a little scratched up it will still look better than any bonded leather which WILL crack and peel.
