Although CBD is often referred to as the non-psychoactive compound, this is not completely accurate. The cannabinoid does work on the mind, which typically makes it a psychoactive force — only it does this without getting the user stoned. This is why CBD has the ability to combat pain and even certain mental health issues. Research has shown the compound has mood enhancement properties, not to mention the ability to relax anxiety issues and reduce seizure frequency in epilepsy patients. In fact, CBD’s ability to control seizures is really where all of its popularity came from in the first place.  
 
It’s true that CBD is non-intoxicating, but it can still lead to incarceration.

And there are literally dozens of articles that state ther same thing. All it takes is a search. And the reference to incarceration is because they are talking about the USA where they still consider hemp to be a drug. smh....

CBD is not THC... that is the whole point of this thread and you keep disputing that. You have not read anything I have directed you too. You are struck on your own wrong and misguided opinion.  
 
Unfortunately for you and fortunately for those of us who do research and can comprehend the difference between CBD and THC, facts are a stronger argument than your contrarty opinion is. Sheesh.... you are stuck on one idea no matter how often you are proven wrong.

Reading your comments you can really your very conwterned about MJ in your community. And that’s a fine. What you should do is go talk to your dr. Or the police. Or anyone. Get informed. Don’t come onto a public forum and blast pot. It’s here to stay there is to much money on the table for the feds to walk away from it now.  
 
So instead of spreading false information and acting like you wrote the book on how thc “alters the brain” take a step back, if your really concerned about kids using this stuff. Having an open relationship with your kids and talking about MJ will go a lot further for them then telling them it’s bad and they can’t use it.

Have been following this and decided to do just a bit of research for myself, decided to check out the CBC report of the incedent. Read the article and also downloaded the picture provided.  
I expanded the pictures to be able to read information on the packages, noticed the warning that it may contain trace amounts of THC because of a chance of contamination in production, not a concern in my mind.  
My concern came when I read about first time users, I''m not familiar what cbd does when taken, have watched documentaries on how helpfull it is in treating pain as well as seizures, realizing though that in these cases doctors set the dosage of cbd.  
The warning of first time users only use 5-10 mg indicates that the producers of the product have a concern.  
The problem I have is, if it is safe, and it is similar to near beer, why a recommendation of a a restricted intake of the product.  
 
Thought I should add the link to the CBC article, I don't think that the article showed any fear mongering.

You know, you CAN admit you might be wrong, especially in the face of ALL the evidence that contadicts everything you claim and think about CBD.  
 
Hemp and CBD are not illegal because you cannot get high from it... Cannabis/THC are legal here in Canada but illegal in most other places because you CAN get high from it. There is a difference, though you refuse to see that. Do you not undertand that point? Hemp is NOT marijuana, it is not psychoactive. The only reason CBD and HEMP are illegal in SOME places is because of people like you who just happen to be in power.  
 
You have obviously decided that you are right, no matter how many time you are proven wrong. I''ll bet you were a treat in school for the teachers.  
 
And there is no point in REPEATING to you to read the literature, obviously you refuse to do that because you THINK you know better than the researchers who state CBD is basically harmless.  
 
You have been proven wrong on this matter several times.  
 
As for the editorial in the Brandon Sun... I have not read it but if you are using it to back up your false claims and unfounded fears, then it is probably full of misconceptions and misleading or false information. Editorials are generally OPINION pieces, not scientific studies and research data.

Hemp (which is where CBD mostly comes from) is grown near Rivers and also Dauphin...right out in the open with no fencing or security guards protecting it. I know this because I have seen the fields. Maybe Johnbisonbear would like 10 foot wire fences with razor wire put up around and armed guards patrolling them to "protect" the children from this "evil" plant

It is all on how you are educated. I believe that edibles should be legal as the medical benefits are huge. I have a buddy who has MS. He has been open and honest with his children who are coming up to their teen years now. They know that daddy has his own medicine. They know that the pot he smokes helps him. When he bakes cookies or brownies they don't even question taking any or trying it. They know it is for their dad and that the only thing it will do for them is make them feel funny inside and might make them sick. They certainly won't die from it. I know the years are limited for him now and good God if a cookie, brownie, gummy bear will help him live a more pain free life vs "what if" a child has a taste I say let him have his treats so he can at least watch his children grow up. Biggest thing for people is educate yourself in knowing what is different between CBD and THC.

Even the Canadian Government agrees: CBD is not intoxicating. Screen capture from your link provided in photos because some people will see cannabis and THC at the top of the page and assume that is CBD.

I think the moral to the story is teach your kids not to eat bags of "candy" that they find wherever. CBD wont affect them negatively but the THC candies won't look any different so that could be of concern. Just my 2 cents.

You do know alcohol is a drug right? Just because it's been legal for a lot longer by no means says it has less negative effects and consequences.  
What does CBD do a person? It's an easy google search Happy searching!

I think it’s like a lot of other things...you don’t drink a 40 your first time, smoke a whole pack of cigarettes your first time, take a handful of pres:cription meds your first time etc.... start low and slow and work your way up once you know how your body will react to it

I did a bit more reading on it and thought that I likely had to do with how a persons body handled it. Doesn't really matter what drug or chemical we put in our bodies there will be side affects, nausea, diarreah, and being light headed, are things I can do without, but after 31 years of back pain, things always make a person curious.

My personal take on this is that a child who eats a whole bag of CBD gummies will suffer negative effects from the massive amount of sugar before there are any negative effects from the CBD.

You know, I did not know much about CBD edibles either, except that they do not get you high and are often used to treat epilepsy (which one of my sons suffers from). So I did the research and learned some stuff in doing so. When the media blitzed Facebook with this "dangerous" edible and many uninformed people overeacted, I did more research to ensure I had a grasp on what I was talking about. I started this thread to make people aware that these were not THC edibles as was implied by both BPS and the media by refering to them as Cannabis edibles when they are actually Hemp edibles. The police were correct in making people aware that there are edible candies/cookies/brownies, etc that do contain THC which is definitely NOT for children. HOWEVER: the edibles in question were and still are CDB edibles - harmless as stated by medical researchers, the government of Canada and pretty much everyone who has more knowledge than you or I on the subject. And yet you continue to carry on like a spoiled kid who drastically needs to get his own way. Your last three posts have added nothing to this thread except to attempt to insult people because they don't agree with your incorrect belief.  
 
I have seen you hijack other threads in the same manner. Maybe you should learn to swallow your pride and admit that you were mistaken instead of throwing out elementary school insults.  
 
P.S. - you can try to insult my intelligence with your grade school sarcasm: it won't work. I graduated university with distinction (a 3.86 GPA) at 44 years of age while I was a single parent with three young children. I majored in Zoology and Botany and minored in Psychology. I won two bursaries for the highest GPA of all the students in two categories in my first year, so yeah, I'm pretty intelligent.

I think this thread has pretty much run its course. Hopefully a few people have learned the difference between THC/Cannabis and CBD/Hemp and that CDB is not intoxicating.  
 
Ask questions, listen to answers, question those answers, and always keep an open mind and keep learning.
