...Is Teen Challenge located at the old Brick store.

Books I always send to the Rotary Club. I think most people in our community shop here for their used books. They do great things in the community, and will also donate books from their stock to other local organizations if requested.  
 
I was happy to see the Super Thrift donation bins go up. They are my preferred thrift store to donate to. Their organization supports both youth and adults to fight addictions, which I think is only going to be needed more and more given the current drug crisis that we are experiencing nation wide!  
 
And of course, before I donate, I give away to friends and family. My family is fortunate to receive a lot of hand-me-downs, which I love because I believe children's clothing is so wasteful.

I donate my unwanted clothing directly to the Samaritan House Food Bank where it can go directly to local families in need, free of charge.

Where I donate depends on what I have to donate, and who's "turn" it is.  
 
I donate books to the used book sale. I also take home large quantities of books from the used book sale, LOL.  
 
For general clothing and merchandise, I alternate between MCC & the Nearly New Shop, because both are causes I support. I haven't donated to Super Thrift yet, but I've shopped there a few times and I'm impressed and will be adding them to my "rotation".  
 
For some items I will donate directly to Samaritan House, especially if I have a large quantity of a certain item (such as in-season shoes).  
 
I also will donate gently used baby clothes and bedding to Crisis Pregnancy for them to distribute to their clients.  
 
And of course, stuff tends to make the rounds between family and friends, but as baby-making days are winding down in this cohort stuff is increasingly simply going out to the organizations listed above.

As for the sustainability part, yes I think there's more than enough. We have so much stuff. If everyone only donated 25% of what they got rid of, the thrift shops would be overflowing. I rarely come out of the thrift shops empty-handed, there's so much good stuff in them.

Does not have a donation bin, but they give their profits to the hospital, so this is a great place to donate.

I love the Nearly New Store. I get that it is ran by volunteers all money goes back to the hospital. BUT don’t take a credit card or have a debit. So I very seldom shop at the store anymore. Sorry Nearly New.

I wish there was more of a variety of second hand stores with bins. I prefer using the bins and think that Value Village over prices their stuff. So I didn't enjoy putting my stuff in them. Now that the new thrift store has bins I have been using them exclusively.

Speaking of overpriced items at VV...has anyone found that nearly new is overpricing now too? I haven’t been in there in awhile but my aunt commented that she found the prices high last time she went. She’s an avid second hand store shopper and usually knows her prices quite well

I stopped donating to Value Village after hearing some questionable things about how much money actually goes to the charity.  
I don't know where the Super Thrift boxes are but would certainly consider donating there.  
I was giving to Diabetes when they called to arrange a pick up, until one day they didn't show up and I had to haul the stuff back in.  
My donations are usually things (clothing) that I am tired of. They are usually in really good shape. I have been giving to Nearly New because I know that it goes to buying equipment at the hospital. I was frustrated when I went to donate and they had a sign up saying they were full and weren't taking donations. I left it in my car and took it back a few days later. I guess it is a good problem for them to have.  
I will continue to give to whatever group makes it the easiest for me to do so. I have a few boxes of stuff ready to go again as I clean out things. I hope wherever my things go someone who can use them gets them for a reasonable price.  
Please continue to give to whatever group you feel does the best. There are many people out there who need us and these services.

We used to donate to value village but decided to switch to the MCC thrift store as they are voulenteer based and mostly run on volunteers. They have sales every week so there is always a an affordable item for everyone and the don't price too high to begin with. The not only help out globally bit this store also helps alot locally to. Helping out people who need the basic needs. It is a great organization with an awsome giving spirit.

The reason that Nearly New does not have credit/debit payment available is because these services cost money.  
 
For Nearly New to be able to offer credit/debit payment, they would have to increase their prices to cover the costs (all proceeds go to the hospital - this would reduce the proceeds by quite a bit).

Hope people realize that Value Village in NOT a charity, they are huge business with their head offices in the US.  
The thrift stores that are registered charities such as the Nearly New do not have to charge taxes so shoppers save that way.

could check at the Elspeth Reid Centre. Christmas isn't so far off & a lot of families "shop" there for there kids.

Don’t the Wheat Kings have a game coming up that you toss any stuffed animal on the ice. The WK score a goal and the stuffed animal are tossed on the ice.

When you donate items directly to vv a portion of the sale of these items is donated to the diabetes association cloth line project.

Why Adam allows people to bad mouth businesses on here but deletes other bad mouthing on other threads. These threads always end in “Value Village is evil” (they aren’t), and every thing else is amazing.

Would someone be able to post a list with the organization and location of their bins in one comment? (I realize there may be multiple locations for bins but if there was a general idea for where some were it would be very helpful!)
