I know I will take a lot of heat for starting this discussion again but WOW it was a disaster yesterday.
I went to the gym about 2:30. I didn't really care where I parked but I did drive to see what was available. It isn't even the middle of November and it was a disaster. I parked out by the theatre end and walked. I saw a couple of older ladies trying to get in and they were having some issues. They were parked so far away...and the parking lot was so slippery. I helped them get to the door after I saw one of them almost fall.
I know everyone will say it isn't often that the lot is that full but wouldn't it be better for customers to have spaces when they are needed. On top of the restaurants taking prime spaces there was a semi that had just unloaded at one of the restaurants trying to maneuver their way out of the lot. Talk about an accident waiting to happen.
I truly think this was one of the worst thought out projects in town.

Too bad they didn't put the restaurants southeast of the theatre. Lots of parking spots there.

That parking lot is absolutely atrocious. Wait until the third restaurant opens and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Moorguard way of thinking. To heck with the customer.lease out parking lot space $$$ . Just like the inconvenience of the bathroom renovations. Have any of you ladies figured out were all the hand dryers are.

I smile when I see threads about the mall and no parking. Move the restaurants in the theater. Then people would bitch there is no parking at the theater. When you go to the gym at 2:30 Monday thru Friday how busy is it? I bet you can find a parking spot. I stop on the way home from work many times at Sobeys and always have a parking spot. I would bet money that if you went to the gym at 9am instead there would be ample parking. I have lived in Brandon long enough when this time of year, or even anytime on the weekends I stay away from the malls and corral center. How come when the parking lot is empty you don't see threads of how shitty of a job admin is in trying to fill parking spots?

When I go to the gym in the morning (usually 6:30 am) there is no issue with parking. I knew someone would have the exact comment you made. I stated I didn't have an issue with walking but did have concerns about the seniors I helped make it to the door.
How about instead of filling the parking spots with restraunts to make money from the lease...how about they concentrate on bringing in some businesses so people want to shop there to bring in money and fill in the parking spots.
I have not been to the mall to shop for months. Only go to the gym there. I think that space could have been put to better use than a gym in a mall.
I will be sure not to go to the mall on Saturday afternoon for a very long time...sadly I will probably not go anywhere in the mall any other time of week either. I will go to the gym and go home.

I, too, was at the mall yesterday. The parking availability was very minimal. I live and work outside of Brandon so the only day I can travel to Bdn is Saturday, as I suspect is other patrons as well. So we will all need to suck it up and suffer the inconvenience. Haha in response to the bathroom renos that have been on-going since the summer that is pretty sad. How can two bathroom renos remotely take this long snd still not be complete?

Not to hijack the post about parking... but the bathrooms were mentioned...
nice Reno on the ladies bathrooms.... however they are still dirty and smell bad. Why can’t they come up with a nicer smelling deodorizer.
As for the parking, I agree. Almost as bad as the corral Centre.

Parking is too crazy there on Saturdays. I don't go there or 18 street or corrall centre on Saturdays.

I think the only answer is to build a few areas of second level of parking, like at Polo Park.

I feel sorry for goodlife. They have a great space and I'm sure are signed into a lease nevermind all them money it probably took to reno that space only to have all those restaurants etc to take all the parking. I can't imagine too many of their customers are happy with not having places to park so they can get in their work outs. Maybe they were made aware of what was to come with the mall and parking lot though so who knows.
I also second the poster who said to bring in stores you actually want to shop in to get people to the mall. The only time I hit the mall is in bad weather so we have a place to walk around.

Now that snow has obscured the painted lines as to where to park, people are parking wherever and blocking cars today. They were blocked at both sides of their cars, the only way out was to wait for the blockers to remove their cars...or levitate. Security was out directing traffic so no one else got blocked in.

So who decides what stores will be popular enough to fill parking spots? If you have a business and want to lease space I bet they will lease it to you. Doubt someone will be checking popularity of your sold items and how you rank in the global store popularity division. The mall is to make money by filling mall space. It isn't responsible for filling parking spaces.

You just love seeing your name on the screen so you just say whatever you feel even if you have no clue what you're talking about. Morguard only likes putting big name stores in their buildings. The mall is a hole and I never step foot in it or eat at any of the restaurants. All garbage.

Today was full by sportcheck entrance. There was vehicles up to the theatre and south of mall. Was actually surprised that it was that full cause didnt seem that busy walking around inside the mall.

Said it before, will say it again... The complaints about parking are hilarious!!!
Live in Toronto for one day then tell me about parking in Brandon.
(Not just access but meters & costs too).

I have never had a problem parking ANYWHERE in Brandon. I will park further away to allow for more free spots closer to the buildings (I do this in the hopes the elderly, infirmed, or families will get those spots... but I know the lazy take them too).

I also WALK all over Brandon.
It is 3 kms to my mother’s house and I walk it frequently.
I walk to the grocery store over a km away with my trolley.
Not always a possibility but TRY WALKING people, the sidewalks are almost always empty.
(Except for cyclists, but that is another story all together).

For those who can:
(1) park further away
(2) get off you ***** & walk
(3) stop ******** about parking.

easy solution , if you don't like the mall don't go there . if enough people stop going there the problem will be corrected.

More days than not when time permits I count myself in the walk (or bike) before drive crowd too. In the summer/spring/fall we put many many kms on our feet, but the minus 30 windchill days change that rationale in a hurry... especially with family in tow.

I think the main question mark here is what the parking lot will look like as all new tenants open up. Specifically will there be days (or time of day) where there simply isn't a spot in the mall lot, or is the new tenant mix such that that wont be a concern. if hypothetically there isn't a spot avail, what's your suggestion on where folks should park and walk from ... bearing in mind that street parking is next to nil in the immediate area and that parts of the area are IMO very iffy from a pedestrian point of view. Maybe on a short-term basis folks might use the soon-to-be old Shoppers Drug parking as overflow and take the Richmond crosswalk over?

Not a good example of an average night tonight and maybe as much a statement on success of Black Friday as anything, but parking sure at a premium tonight.... cars circling looking for spots. Did still look like quite a few spots back by the theatre, worst case scenario!

I was going to go to the mall yesterday. Parking was available by the theater. I could have used the walk but didn't bother going to the mall, couldn't be bothered.

Brandon has had it good for a very long time. We are a growing city. All large city's have issues with parking at their malls especially during the holiday season. We went to the mall yesterday and parking was terrible .we went to the coral center and it was just as bad. It's just the way it is.

Second hit and run in the Shoppers Mall parking lot

Second time within a year my sons car has been involved in a hit and run near the Scotiabank at the mall. While at work today, a white vehicle decided to run their bumper down the side of my sons car. So not only does his car look like someone used a hammer from jerks opening their doors into the car on both sides, it now has a white stripe and some additional dents. My God people learn how to drive or at least own up to your crappy driving skills and leave a note.
What are you teaching the younger drivers, it’s okay to hit and run someone else’s property and that’s ok!

If you think that Brandon Shoppers Mall parking is a challenge, it's a good thing that you weren't trying to shop at Costco in Wpg. this afternoon. What a Circus!! What a Zoo :-)

Has lost me as a customer over their move and the lack of parking. Usually when I go there its a quick in and out for a couple of things. I really dont want to battle the mall prking every time to do this, so I'll just go somewhere else.

Stores will typically locate where the traffic is. And by the sounds of things, people are already at the Shopper's Mall. This means that people who are already at the Mall will more likely visit Shoppers Drug Mart while they are there, myself i:ncluded.
