Remember to claim your carbon tax rebate. It's worth a few hundred dollars and can be claimed by one person per household. It's to help offset the climate change control tax that will be implemented starting in September.

From this website it appears that the rebate starts in 2019 so you cannot claim until next year.

was serious about the rebate they would cut people a cheque like the GST. If you happen to owe taxes you get squat for the carbon tax rebate!

Libs said that the money would help people offset the increase of the carbon tax but that's not the case.

when you claim this and get the rebate but come election time & should the conservatives win the election & Prjme Minister Sheer repeals the carbon Tax....will we have to pay the carbon tax rebate back?

Every adult is entitled to it and the only way they don’t get it on their individual taxes is if they’re a family. It then adjusts to i:nclude the family. It isn’t per household unless they’re married, the only thing affected by only one per household is claiming the rent. The rebate is a credit applied to your tax assessment and if you owe cra you still technically get it, it just reduces your debt. Just be thankful it’s tax free and remember that to some that 187.00 is a lot.

Does anyone know if City of Brandon is considered outside a census metropolitan area. Wondering if I need to multiply the rebate by 10%

According to stats Canada it seems Brandon is outside the CMA.

Even if it wouldn't be, there is no harm erorring on the side of doing the multiplication, since they would catch it on accessing your taxes and make the correction.

Brandon is considered to be outside so you do get the extra 10%. Winnipeg is the only area in Manitoba considered a metropolis.
