Why do these planes need to fly so low and so late at night and right over my house????  
Its 11pm some people are trying to sleep..

Sorry mate, lost my keys thought an aerial view might help.

Thank the Lord and gives thanks you don't live in Winnipeg around their airport.

know there was an airport nearby when you bought the house? If I had to guess it's night flying training.

The main runway in Brandon is aligned east-west and is 1 mile north of the #1 highway. The mandatory frequency control zone is 5 miles diameter around the airport and all aircraft make a rectangle circuit pattern to the north of the runway to set up for approaches and take offs.  
 
I would assume you live east of the airport?  
 
Please remember that the Westjet flight arrives from Calgary 5 nights a week at roughly 1115pm and will approach either from the east or west depending on the wind.  
 
Also, during the week days there can be military training flights from Portage at all hours of the evening, as well as student pilots doing night flights, and medevac aircraft.  
 
Brandon airport is not all that busy, compared to Winnipeg or other major sites.  
 
That said, complaining about it on Ebrandon likely isnt the best way to affect positive change. You may find some sympathizers, and you may find someone willing to defend the airport with their dying breath.  
 
Your best option if you want to talk to someone would be the Reeve of your area. Any kind of noise bylaw restrictions would be placed through the RM in cooperation with the City of Brandon, though I'd say not likely to happen given the levels of traffic at the airport, runway layout, and the only recently increasing amount of people living directly north of the city.

If 2.5 miles is considered to be close enough to an airport that you should expect and accept airport noise , realtor's advice aside, then just how far away should one locate from a Brandon-sized airport when trying to avoid excessive airplane noise? 3 miles? 4 miles?

Its nothing to do with how far i am from the airport ,its the fact that they continually fly right over my house at 11pm..  
I am fine with planes flying over but not at 11pm ..  
And just to let you know i live north of the airport not east or west  
My point is dont fly so low over houses at 11pm

West Jet arrives 7 days a week at 11:43. So that means arrival and departure noise from a plane taking off and landing.  
 
Are you complaining about that? We finally have flight service in Brandon, that has actually stayed for a few years and is doing well, great for business, the air port.

Well you might be in luck if it's the Westjet flight, because I cannot find any trace of that flight after next week on their booking system...It seems like they might be reducing to one flight in and out per day?  
 
I could be wrong, but cannot seem to book the flight that arrives at 11:42pm (but usually arrives earlier) after this week via westjet's website. I think in past years service was reduced over the summer. I don't see it into October. It shows up again in November as an option.

saying airplanes should be flying according to your schedule? Aircraft flying IFR must follow prescribed routes. And that includes landing at Brandon Airport.  
 
There's alot of night training that takes place at the airport, especially navigation training which is basically IFR. They practice flying the prescribed approach routes. Not just by Brandon Flight Centre, but also military training from Southport and Winnipeg. Sorry you live near an active airport that's open 24/7, your just going to have get used to it. Eventually you will get use to it and not even hear the aircraft anymore. They're not going to stop just because you don't like it.

try addressing your issue to West Jet.

pretty much like First World Problems. If that's the extent of his complaint, a plane coming into land at the airport. And would take 10 seconds or so for it to go by. He's lucky he's not near a much busier airport.
