Noticed tonight that there were a couple of people in dark jumpsuits with reflective tape walking throughout the neighbourhood checking for unlocked vehicle doors. Obviously not breaking into them but more of a security check. Anyone else notice this?

That’s almost funny. Not to be rude but why would a “security check” involve actually checking to see if vehicles are locked.

But these guys seemed very calm about it, even when we went to verify they were locked. The horn indicator did not make them head for the hills. Could it be something to do Police department and their lock up your cars and sheds reminders? Would MPI be doing anything?

I don’t think anyone is going to go around and physically check for unlocked doors as a “security check”. Something seems fishy...

With all due respect...if you witnessed this “suspicious activity”, why not go out and ask them, do something to stop them, call the cops if worried for your own safety?Do you think grabbing your keyboard and posting on ebrandon kept them from checking/pilfering more cars in your neighborhood after you saw what you saw? Do your neighbors a favour and harass these individuals...they will stay away if they realize there are eyes on them. If we just watch and do nothing...they’ll just keep coming back. Don’t be an easy target!

Approach them!! Call police.. These days you never know who your dealing with.

Our security lites came on in our backyard and my husband saw this man walk over to our garage door, the the lights right on him, and he tried the door knob then walked off into the dark as if he owned the place. They are just tooo brazen!!

First of all, BPS aren't going to dress in dark jumpsuits with reflective tape, secondly they wouldn't be randomly checking citizens car doors without the consent of the vehicle owners or a mass media release in which case, this would be something that would never happen. You are looking at thieves and low life thugs.  
 
What do you mean 'obviously not breaking into them but more of a security check'?

Actually a few weeks ago I was told that RCMP were doing a check like that. It was in MacGregor though. They were leaving notes on the vehicles that were unlocked, and letting them know what they found. Maybe they were doing the same thing here. I don't know who would leave their vehicle unlocked anymore. I would also assume though that they would wear their uniform and not a black jump suit.

I believe I would be a little disheartened if I were to learn that my tax dollars are going toward the writing of reprimand letters to be given to law abiding citizens.
