Violence involving edged weapons is also on the rise. In fact, last year, London England, which has banned handguns, surpassed New York City in murders. (BBC News) The use of meth and opiods is an ever increasing crisis in our country. I certainly don't have the answers, but I will say, in my opinion, legalizing marijuana is not the answer. Illegal weed sales last year were $5 bilion as opposed to legal weed sales at $2 billion (CTV News) Can legalizing a proven gateway drug (NY Times) and addictive drug (National Institute on Drug Abuse) be the answer? Or was it a tax grab by our government to cash in on a crime we can't control? "
I too believe legalizing weed was wrong. People like to say weed is not a gateway but it is, it all depends on the person. Just like alcohol, either you can have two beer and leave it or you need to drink the whole dozen.
If that is true what you say about 5 billion illegal weed sales then why isn't law enforcement along with government cracking down on these people who are raking in cash?
