Yeah, lots of paving going on right now. Making it challenging to navigate around as it changes from day to day and even hour to hour what's open and what's closed.

As yes, it stinks. I worry a bit about the dust/particulate kicked up during grinding.

of hot asphalt!
We thought we would go for a nice drive last night and for the most part it was good except when we smelled wood smoke and then skunky pot.
I'll be glad for winter, less smells, less noise pollution.

Wouldn’t say I’ve noticed a blue haze but definitely sometimes when there’s an East wind and stuff is going into the air at the East end of the city the smoke makes its way into the city. Had been hoping to connect with the relevant business just to speak to in a little more detail.

had purchased the Cumming & Dobbie land on Victoria E and have plans to move the asphalt plant there.

I also believe Zenith was at their current location long before the area got developed.

Must admit I love the smell of tar, and especially the smell of Coal Tar soap, not that I ever see it in the shops here. Wrights was the UK brand.

Called buyer beware lol the ridiculousness of the expectations of some are crazy. If you want clean crisp air, you buy a home or land in a bubble. In the country you’ll get smells of fertilizer, dirt, livestock... in the city you get asphalt, skank river water, and peoples extra curricular activities. It’s life people.

in trains, traffic, crime, construction and everything else that comes with living in the modern world.

People are going to knowingly buy or build their home next to an industrial park and then complain about the industrial activity taking place, they have no one to blame except themselves. Same if they build or buy beside a freeway then complain about traffic noise or build/buy a home beside a railroad crossing and then complain about the train whistles. They knew what was there when they chose to live there, yet they expect business or government, the taxpayers, to have to spend $$$ to relocate the noise, view or smell that offends them.

Good comment, and I’m going to add to it.
If you build out in the rural area, there will be dusty roads, smells of spray, and possibly the smells from livestock.
I sometimes miss certain smells, as a kid I remember the smell of crude oil from the refinery. Maybe it was because a trip to Brandon wasn’t an everyday event, and coming into the city from the south the first thing one noticed was the refinery.

The haze that got my curiosity came earlier in the season where there were a few days that it made it all the way over to at least 18th street on more than one day. Thick enough that it did a number on eyes and throat. Not something I could remember as a common thing that far into the city and so was wanting to sort out what the difference is between a day like that and a regular one (knowing that East wind is at least one factor)

Yes, things always seem to go astray.
Your original comment was pretty straightforward, blue haze in the air, smells like petroleum, and is it really healthy for a person. The last part would be the one of concern, a little paving plant has likely grown over the years, our understanding of air borne particles has changed over the years, these things are facts, so for myself your point was not lost.
