Ok, I'm watching YouTube and stumbled across something that is blowing my mind. I have had my vehicle broken into 3 times in the past 2 years. I am very good at ensuring it is locked every night, but on two occasions I may have left it unlocked. Those were the nights it was broken into. I thought to myself, "wow" what bad luck to have the thieves happen across my vehicle on exactly the two nights I left it unlocked - what odds! The last time it was broken into I was positive I had locked it. In fact I was 100% sure I had, yet the thieves managed to get in. I did some research and found something very interesting.
Thieves are using fake key fobs or signal extenders to either steal the signal when you use your key fob or extend the signal from your fob in your home to an alternate key fob to open vehicles. New technology that you may not be aware of.
I invite you to research this on your own and take precautions (placing fobs in tin foil in your home at night - suggested by my YouTube research) in order to protect your vehicle.
The other morning I heard something outside my home. It sounded like a vehicle door handle being pulled on. I looked out and saw someone standing near my vehicle holding what I thought was a small piece of plywood. After my research, I believe it was a team using a signal extender to try to get into my vehicle. Fortunately they saw me and bolted.
I'd like to see BPS put out some type of statement regarding this type of technology being used in Brandon if they are aware of this in order to help us safeguard our property.
As I previously stated, crime is going to get much worse during this time, so please take precautions.
