For those that got that second payment (which is legit) one to cover from March to April. And the second to cover April to may. I wonder if those people have birthdays in Jan, Feb or March. Everything including the online interview with the treasury board is the double payments are legit. If you got two, you won't be getting another till May now! I've looked at news, live reports, and both service Canada and the CRA sites.

Agreed.. were going to be taxed like no tomorrow for a very long time!  
 
Another thing people need to realise is this $2000 a month isnt tax free either.... wait until 2020 tax returns are done, most people will be owing to CRA, unless people play their cards right.

I did not get the second payment and my birthday falls in those months.  
 
I filed for EI on March 25th and it was switched over to CERB. My first report isn’t due until tomorrow so I am curious what will happen once I complete it and whether I will get a retroactive payment to cover March 25th to April 11th.

Anyone know anything about maternity leave? I keep calling, but 5x now have been entirely disconnected after waiting for 3 hours.  
I know If i go on EI right now, they count that as my matt leave i qualify for in four months. So instead of one year with baby I would only get the remaining 8 months of my first EI claim. Does anyone know if CERB effects maternity leave the same way? I can’t find the info anywhere.

Maternity leave does not fall under CERB, it falls under EI. It also follows the rules of maternity leave.

My goodness. Called at 830am, and by the time you listen to all the automated stuff and get to put in your SIN and Access code, 3 mins has passed by and......due to the high volume they cannot take my call. You have been open for 3 mins :'(  
 
How am I ever going to reach anyone like my EI account says to do.

You will. You'll get one to cover April 11-may 11 for $2000 and then you should $1000-1500 for the March 25- Apr 11. But won't recieved anything till May 11 or you shouldn't.

I've been trying since the 20 of March to call the 206-7218 number and nothing. Very frustrating!

I know cerb isn't supposed to use your hours if you go straight to EI after, but I was talking with a girl who called and was told she'd have to earn her hours again if she went back to work between cerb and mat leave. Can you get a sick note? Then you can do 15 weeks sick leave and go straight to mat leave. I know that way is safe.

My head hurts just reading all of this. Has anyone got ahold of EI today? I know people have been calling all day, every day with no answer. So much confusion because they said double payments was not a mistake but on the other hand, double payments was a mistake and they will take it back from you, depending on what your situation was. THEY NEED ONLINE OR EMAILS because the phone thing is not working

The govt felt that a normal weekly EI payment would only be about $400. They have decided to bump that up to $500 to try and make it fair for those getting EI. The double payment was not from CERB. The first payment was actually from EI. That's why we were required to do reports. For those 3 weeks from March 15-31. Employment insurance paid that amount. The $2000 was for April's CERB payment. Anyone who recieved both, it was not a mistake, but you will not receive another payment till May.

Heard about any help for people whose hours are cut? My daughter got cut from 40 hours to 20 this week. How is she supposed to pay her bills ? Why no help for this group who has their hours drastically cut

You daughter is lucky she still has a job!  
 
Ive been laid off for 2 weeks my other half was let go permanently due to this.  
 
I wish I could get 20 hours.

At least if laid off you get help. Nothing for her so far. She has rent and a car payment to pay.

Trudeau is hoping to announce something soon for people who've had their hours cut, but he's been saying it'll be for people working less than 10 a week.

Did anyone figure out if we will be getting retroactive pay for March to April 11th?

....and the agent was not very helpful and didn’t even look up my claim.  
 
I was laid off March 25. Applied for EI that day. Claim was approved March 29 and then moved over to CERB. I received the one CERB payment which I assume is for April 11- May 9th but nothing for March 25th to April 11th. Not sure if that’s the norm?

What phone number did you call? And what time did you call?  
 
I have been calling since 830am the 1 800 531 7555 number and it keeps telling me high number of calls. I have also tried the 1 800 206 7something number.  
 
EDIT: To put salt on the wound, I cannot apply for the 2nd round of CERB!!! It tells me that since I applied for EI, I can only apoly for CERB from there and asks me to do a report. But I cannot do a report because the report I did on Mar 28 is notnprocessed because they need me to call them, but I cant call them because they dont answer their phones.

Anyone apply for EI prior to the 15th? How long is it taking for regular EI claims to be processed? I haven't worked since beginning of March. Last pay was around March 15th. Employer took FOREVER to get my ROE in.  
 
Anyone tips on doing reports when also self employed? obviously that income is pretty much zero right now as well but in the event I do make a bit of money how do I go about claiming that? My main income was my job so not sure how all this works and obviously can't call in.

I applied for ei on the 20 of April I got the CERB and back pay a week or so ago. I had to put in my ei Report last Friday and today I received 500 deposit from EI is this correct can any tell me. I have to do my next report next Friday. TIa

I’m not 100% sure if this is right but from everything I’ve read online...  
 
- if on EI and you make money, you have to claim it when you do your report. They will deduct as necessary  
 
- if on CERB, you can not make any money and if you “double dip”, you will have to pay the CERB back  
 
If you’re on cerb and have a side business, I would think it’s best to not make any money doing the side job...unless the side job brings in more than $2000 a month? Then do that and don’t apply for CERB

I am laid off due to covid-19 but will be returning to work after this is over and I’m allowed to go back. I just was wondering if it was an error that I received the CERB plus back pay from March but did my EI Report as it stated on my EI account and I had a direct deposit of $500 today just making sure this is correct.

Whatzup... I read any claims before March 15 would be EI and any after March 15 would automatically go to cerb. You can not apply for both. I would set some of that money aside as I assume you will have to pay it back. It’s stressful not knowing and not being able to get someone on the phone easily. Good luck!

Theres a request a call back option in the covid box. It might take a day or 2 but someone will call you back. You definitely can not apply through the cra if you e already applied for EI. One of the criteria that you would've declared in the cra application is that you didn't apply for EI.

I applied for EI in April as stated. I realize that the CERB kicked in after I had applied But I am still having to send in my EI Report as that is what my service Canada is saying. Or should I not be sending in my EI reports as requested by my EI account. This is so confusing and getting a hold of EI is a nightmare.

still do the EI reports since EI is covering this portion of the CERB. When you do get called back, on the next report you do, you just answer yes to the question if you have returned to work. Then the EI CERB will end for you.  
 
I'm going through the same thing.

If you applied for EI and they transferred you to CERB(technically not CERB if it’s through EI. It’s actually EI-ERB). Then yes, you must keep filling out your weekly reports.
