Millenial said "The biggest issue with Sobeys no longer permitting the use of reusable bags is that folks would likely have to pay the $0.10 a bag or whatever it is to purchase the paper bags since they have done away with plastic. While I understand your perspective there is not much that can be done in that regard.
Especially since there are other measures that we could take to make using reusable bags safer, like washing groceries that must be put away right away (eg milk jugs, produce) or letting groceries sit the 3 days it takes for the virus to denature on surfaces. I think as long as we are all conscious of what we are bringing into our homes, it'll be fine. "
Sobeys is still allowing the reusable bags. I didn’t take some two weeks ago and they reminded me that i am still allowed to bring them. I brought them on Monday, and there was no problem and they bagged for me. My bags go directly to the washing machine to be washed, then sanitized, right after I’m done washing the groceries, then I hang them to dry. They have mentioned though that some people’s bags are quite disgusting so maybe those ones they will definitely make you bag them yourselves?
Clean your bags people.
Oh and yes, Kudos to Sobeys west for doing such an amazing job!! Love the hand washing station, etc! Would love to see that even after all this.
