So I received a notice today that we may be evacuated as with the raising water! We have 3 animals and kids with no where to go! Does the Red Cross put evacuees up in hotels?

Also wondering what to do with my animals. We have no family and no friends here we could ask to stay with. Two cats and 3 LARGE dogs is too much for a hotel, and with being both laid off we couldn’t afford one anyways.

We have 4 cats hopefully tomorrow I can get ahold of someone from the inquiry number and see what can be done since on top of flood season we have to worry about Covid as well

Just wondering, for those who have went through this before, if we do get evacuated, how much time do we have to collect our stuff?  
 
We have a few things packed, but stuff that we use constantly we dont (as it would be a pain to grab it from the suitcase all the time).  
 
We also have a roommate that doesnt believe this (even after I showed them the notice), so if they didnt actually prepare and pack anything, will he be hooped?  
 
And what if I am at work, will I have time to go home to get my stuff, or do I need to bring it with me? We are a household of 5, and dont drive, so would be a hassle to walk around with it.

I called the number on the notice and they didnt really tell me.much, aside from that they would take down my infomation and call me with more infomation if we do get evacuated.  
 
They asked address, how many people and any pets (luckily we dont have any).

Hi all. I work at the Keystone Motor Inn in the hotel. In the past, Red Cross has helped with putting evacuees in hotels, although we have not yet had any calls from them. Usually they do call to find out our availability. I will be contaccting them today, but rest easy. We will take evacuees and your pets! (normally we are no pets) Please do not call to book right now though. Just know that there is at least one hotel that will allow your furry family if needed.

When we were evacuated in 2011, we were given the official notice at 7am that we would have to be out by noon. We pretty much new it was coming, so we were well prepared. We were able to stay at my parents place, so I can't say much about pets and hotels. One thing to know is that we did get evacuation financial assistance from the province. I can't remember exactly, but it was 1,000$ to 1,500$ per week of the evacuation.

I was among those evacuated from near Stickney ave in 2011. I remember having lots of time to pack any necessary stuff and they put us in the (then) Royal Oak for free. There were many kids and pets in the halls > I have a bad memory but I also seem to remember some financial flood relief aid from the province.
