Mosquito levels in Westman towns?

No secret we have a few bugs in Brandon this year... tho no stats yet, general opinion seems to be that it's worse than an average year and effecting quality of life. A lot of just how bad it is is being tied to all the rain of two weeks ago, which I know didnt effect all areas as much as Brandon.

Call me a dreamer, but looking for that Westman utopia that hasn’t been quite as inundated that would make a good day trip. For folks that live in or have been to other communities between Portage and Sask, RMNP and the USA border... curious how you would compare mosquitos this year to a typical year in your neck of the woods?

I live in Minnedosa beside the lake. Like a war zone. The critters are like bombers from all directions. I have sprayed my outdoor clothing and they still sting. Try and walk my dog is getting tough. His poor face. I have lived here for a long time and I cannot remember it being this bad. Am trying to enjoy sitting on the deck i n the evening with a fly swatter. Just bat them when they come in for the kill. Just sounding off. Guess it could be worse.

Here in Shilo, we usually listen to the people in Brandon complain about mosquitoes, and think "what the heck are they talking about"?The nearest water is miles and miles away, so they are never an issue. That is, until this past week.
Normally, by this time of year, the grass is brown and crunchy, and the leaves on the trees are starting to wilt. I have 20 year old trees that are still only 2 feet tall. But this year I am actually having to cut the grass almost every 5 days, the trees have never done better, but the mosquitoes are the price we are paying for all the moisture.

They are terrible in the Boissevain area!
