Just grabbed our free pack of masks at a drive through located at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. Don’t forget to grab yours.

This pic shows the lineup at one point this morning. Moving very quickly, cars just out onto 18th street. Wish there was a pic from about 15 mins earlier when cars extended down 18th and maybe a half dozen vehicles down Richmond from there. Nowhere near this long the other times I've seen the line.. they'll be at both the Riverbank and Keystone til 4.

FWIW its actually boxes of 50 they’re giving out right now at least. Pretty much drive up, they give and you go. No lag from having to document.

I too got masks from keystone grounds very fast and I give a big shout out to the workers out there in the heat so polite very nice. Thanks you so ,much

That kinda sucks it’s one day. 10am-4pm doesn’t really work for people who work all day. Oh well.

and it was after 5 cause you know people have to go to work still,
so no masks for us i guess. i guess thats city of brandon thinking for you.

ours from the Keystone today and want to give a huge thanks to Maple Leaf for what they have given to the community as well as the workers who stood out in that dreadful heat for us.

funny how people can still find something to complain about when others are handing out items for free..

also the city had nothing to do with this initiative as it was maple leaf who was donating the masks to support the community.

There is legit an article right below on the front page describing how Maple Leaf and the City of Brandon formed this initiative together!
It was fabulous that they did this. However it does suck that the people who work daytimes couldn’t get in on this. And the city should recognize that.

It was on the news, it was on the radio, it was on Ebrandon. I don't read the Sun but likely there too???? It was on Facebook.

It was out there for people to know.
Where do you normally get this type of information from if you did not know?

Manitiba Covid19 announcements and website.

Even made national news broadcast along with our increased cases in the area.

It did state in a few articles that Wednesday would be the first distribution day, the masks were shipped in from out of province.

I think it would have been wise to have an alternate time for those who cannot leave work in the day for whatever reason. I said that immediately upon seeing the time slot.

An evening distribution *in addition to* would have been a good idea. Even if the lines went quickly, it might not have been feasible for some to get theirs over their breaks.

Maybe they can make accommodations for those workers next time?

Pasting below response from a Maple Leaf spokesperson to questions I sent re yesterday and prospect for any future dates:

Good morning,

We estimate we distributed 358,000 masks to local community members yesterday. We have also provided masks drops to two social service agencies in town and we had 15 requests come in from other social service agencies that we will fill promptly.

This effort was made possible with the support of our host sites Riverbank Discovery Centre and Keystone Centre and volunteers from United Way, who assisted our own Maple Leaf Team Members. This was a truly community effort and we hope it will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Brandon community.

Both sites were very busy and we’re thrilled the drive-up format worked out so well.

We’ll advise if any additional distribution days will be forthcoming.
