Covid lasts on surfaces for up to 72 hours. It will not take two weeks...

Because all kids want is to wait 3 days to eat the candy they just collected. Good luck with that.  
 
It’s no different than trick or treating. You’re just changing the method of how to give out the candy. Either way, it’s been touched and in someone’s home. I also don’t want my kids eating/touching candy from the grass. Many animals use the grass as their bathrooms. Not to mention people who have their yards sprayed with weed chemicals etc in the fall. No thanks.  
 
We voted at supper, the young ones want McDonalds then a drive to look at decorations.

It’s a nice thought but a bad idea which I can’t imagine Manitoba Health will allow to go ahead this year.  
These times are just too dangerous and we must give up some of these events at least for this year and do our own little celebrations within our own homes.

I'm sure you meant well, but this isn't the move. You mentioned that we may have to deal with COVID for years to come and need to rethink the way we live. That's the point, there have been so many ideas brought up to celebrate Halloween that don't involve the trick or treating part.  
 
However, I can tell by your responses, and the simple fact that you went with the name "yeet the treat", that you may not be mature enough to accept this was poorly thought out and let it go.

Nice thought, but not a good plan.

It’s nice you want to do something for Halloween but during a global pandemic it’s not really appropriate to encourage an event that involves handing out of edible treats.  
 
It’s a liability for numerous reasons.

An event to prioritize the distribution of free candy in the face of a pandemic, organized by an adult, childless Furry. I’m not sure common sense will be an effective response here, folks.

I was sitting here waiting for a comment like this honestly because thats all people ever care about and nothing else, really says something about a person. Makes me feel happy thats the only thing people can try and pick on me for, because really there's nothing else

I'm not crazy about my kids getting candy from strangers the best of years with covid right now that would be a hard no here. Will let kids dress up and have a scavenger hunt around our property for them instead.  
 
Yes I'm also a person who disinfects his groceries and sanitize myself before I set foot inside my vehicle.

as people have already clearly explained through a multitude of reasons, they are not interested in participating. I understand your desire to keep Halloween alive this year but unless you know for sure that the properties you are throwing candy on want to participate, I would refrain from doing so. I for one do not so please do not litter on my lawn. Thank you.

My 2 kids are grown and adults now and no grandchildren yet , so my opinion is not relevant at the moment. However, your heart is in the right place and good on you for trying to add some cheer in this dark, gloomy time we are in. Hope you have a great day.

Not at our house!

I can appreciate your enthusiasm for wanting kids not to miss out on halloween, but here are a couple of my immediate concerns:  
 
1. Throwing candy all over the place is going to create SO much litter. Unless you're only throwing to folks you actually know and are expecting a mess of candy on their lawn, people aren't going to know what the heck is going on. The last thing this City needs is more garbage on the streets.  
 
2. Drivers can't be throwing stuff from their vehicles. It's a massive distraction. With all the kids that will inevitable we walking around, already distracted and with limited visibility, this is an awesome way for a kid to get hit by a car, which we obviously can do without.  
 
3. People aren't going to trust random garbage thrown on their lawns to feed their kids, this is like parenting 101, and I don't even have kids. Now multiply that with a booming pandemic/cold and flu season, and it's just a great way for more people to get sick.  
 
Like I said, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but how about this instead:  
 
Parents buy their own kids candy, dress up and just go for a nice socially distanced walk. We all end up with a bucket of unused candy anyways at the end of the night, so there ya go. Kids get candy, they get to dress up and go out, nice safe family time is had by all.  
 
Nobody gets hit by a car and the City isn't covered in garbage. Win/win.  
 
BTW: the name is a solid 10/10. I just think the only thing getting yeeted is someone's Honda into a kid dressed up like a ladybug.

If you’ve looked at what they are doing, you will know they aren’t going to throw “litter on your lawn”. It’s for people who acknowledge the risk and they sign up for people to bring candy to their kids! They aren’t just driving down random streets throwing candy everywhere. They are proposing to have a list they follow of addresses who WANT to participate. No one is forcing any of you to participate. I see there is a group on there that would like too. There would be no large groups of people together, so the gathering rule of only 10 people would still be in place. They are asking candy to be bagged, so it’s not loose all over the place. The parents that signed their kids up, would be prepared for the delivery. You don’t have to drive by doing 50 and chuck it, but pullover and drop/toss it.  
All candy is in pkgs, so you can easily wipe down all pkgs, just as you do with all your groceries or candy you plan on buying for your own kids to enjoy.  
Kids are going to school, and will be in contact with at least 20 plus other kids. No one knows where those family’s have been to. And potentially exposed in hallways/buses with soooo many other family’s that no one knows where they’ve been. Also everytime you take your child places, even to the store ( and I’ve seen tons of children in the stores), they touch things continuously that others are touching. As with anything, wash their hands/sanitize frequently, wash all  
products you bring home, wear a mask.  
Which public health rule is this breaking? For those that are saying public health should shut this down? I’m honestly asking and not being rude.  
 
If this isn’t something you are interested in, or you think it’s disgusting, move on. Proceed with whatever you choose to do for you and your family.  
And for the tool that thought they should mention the “furry” comment, in regards to common sense. Well that just states your lack of maturity as well. If you had an inkling of what that group does to entertain seniors, children, Charity, etc, you’d understand how much you look like a fool for even mentioning it!  
My children are grown, so I have no horse in this race.  
Good luck to those that acknowledge the risk and sign up to participate.  
And to those staying home and having family time instead, awesome! Hope you all enjoy your evening as well, and make sure to wash all treats you purchase for yourself too!

I have taken everyone's concerns into account and I will be planning accordingly. We still have 2 months of planning to do.

Good point, schools on and that is high risk. This could probably be done safer and it’s outside. Not saying we at our house are for this type of event but sounds like many are. Of course we also don’t agree with the current back to school plan either.
