They have been there for some time now. More noticeable lately, maybe their numbers have grown. Maybe homeless or perhaps live elsewhere and are here for the time being.  
 
I don't know their circumstances, I do know that it's not likely the most comfortable place to be as our temperatures start dropping.

There was a bit in the Brandon Sun? On CBC? Maybe both? that when they shut down a tent city in Winnipeg earlier this year a lot of those folks migrated here. Many of them were camped out under the overhang on the east side of the old bus station. The city has since turned around and made the owner of the building board it up and do some stuff to secure it better.  
 
It's been an issue as it was a substantial increase in the homeless population in a fairly short amount of time. There wasn't enough services/help for them before, and now it's even more strained.

the article featured two men who have zero interest in finding more suitable housing. Both told the reporter that help has been offered but they are happy in their own place that they have created. To each their own I guess.

one other time where the Brandon Sun did similar article and one of the people said it was their choice to live like that during the summer, then head back to the reserve in the winter. Guess everyone can have different reasons why they are living like that, some by choice and others have no choice.

they make the choice, some of them. But they are always given a choice too. People definitely like their freedom!
