Help Man on 18th &; Kirkcaldy

Dear Brandonites,

How can we as a community help the homeless man on 18th & Kirkcaldy? He has been standing at that intersection for months asking for help in the most visible way possible. However, that has not been enough to secure shelter or food. Our winters are cold and it would be appreciated if we could together find him a place to stay and help him get back on his feet.

He has been there for sometime. There are community resources available to him. He has to access them. Maybe he doesn’t want to.

He’s a very nice man, but has a gambling problem. Which he admits too. He walks to the VLTs at the end of the day. So not exactly sure what you’re expecting everyone to do.

I have seen him many a time and have occasionally given him money. Good on him for earning some taxfree cash. He is trying to better himself at some level, at least more than some others in his position. I don't judge what he chooses to spend it on, nor do I assume he needs help or fixing. The dollar you give will do more to make you feel better as a person than it will for him. Some may claim he plays a few slots or stops at LC on occasion, not unlike the rest of us. Everyone has a story and we don't all get here by our own hand. Life ain't easy, but a few kind people can make a difference or at least makes someone's day a little happier.

Just curious on how you know that he is homeless. Also, how do you know that he has not secured funds for food and shelter. Just aking.

but your post is difficult to read. What I can figure out, you are against helping him correct?
