Traffic currently backed up on first street, during rush hour no less, because there are flashing lights at the rail crossing. I came to a complete stop, saw that the train was stopped (seems like they're doing maintenance) and proceeded. Lots of gestures and angry looks on both sides. Dozens of cars stopped! Guys!! Please know your driving rules!! It's dangerous not to!  
 
From the Manitoba license book:  
 
Drivers may cross a railway crossing when the warning lights are flashing if:  
 
the vehicle is brought to a complete stop prior to crossing  
the crossing is not protected by gates or barriers  
the crossing is within a restricted speed area  
the train is stopped or is a safe distance away  
the crossing may be done safely.

You think that is bad, just wait till you come to a flashing amber/red light scenario lol  
you might as well just find an alternative street as Brandon drivers have no clue!

I have been cut off several times, people driving out parking lots without looking, no one stops at stop signs anymore and never mind signalling when changing lanes.  
Have to be on your guard when driving around Brandon.  
A friend of mine from the US asked if respecting Stops signs here was a suggestion rather than the rule.

If anyone who posts in the numerous driving infraction threads has bothered expressing their concern to both BPS as well as city hall. This city needs a designated traffic department which we have not had for years. And for those who will be quick to state there are traffic officers, I am not referring to a couple of officers and a sergeant in the office but a designated traffic department.
