There's Rally's going on in Winnipeg today, it was in the news that there were protests in Montreal regarding mandatory vaccines for health care workers just a couple of days ago.

I'm not sure if that's what's going on but it is possible as it's close to the hospital.

*Edit* I'm not saying I agree with any of it. Lol. Just assuming that it's something along those lines.

Just so we're clear, the protests weren't lead by nurses.

The Manitoba Nurses Union confirms a large protest held outside HSC this afternoon was not led by nurses.

There has been some misinformation being peddelled on social media. Some suggesting it was a nurse walkout. Not true.

The event was planned along with others around the country today. Called World Wide Walkout apparently organized by Canada Frontline Nurses.

The organization "Canadian frontline nurses" were organizing the Rally's (protests)

The MNU have made a statement to say they are not affiliated with nor do they support these protests.

I would venture to say that *most* (if not all) of the people who were on the street today are NOT nurses. As well as the Manitoba Nurses Union, both the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba both stated that they do not endorse such actions.
Also to clarify - Covid vaccinations are NOT mandatory for nurses in Manitoba. If a nurse (as well as other health care providers) choose not to get the vaccine, the other option will be regular testing (the details of which have not been announced yet). There are vaccines/ titres that are mandatory for nurses (ie- Hep B, measles), but this is not one of them.

Kind of strange to say it was in solidarity, when the Manitoba nurses union states they had nothing to do with this, and didn’t support it..

Unfortunately just because the nurses union disavowed it does not mean health care workers were not involved or supportive. You don't have to agree with everything your union says. I personally know of two nurses that are not vaccinated. Their disregard for public health orders during the pandemic has bothered me for months.

Back when those nurses enrolled in nursing school they needed to show proof of all vaccines before they could even start. I assume they didn't protest then.

Sarah is Sarah Choujounian, who also was fired from two jobs, and is also currently under investigation by the College of Nursing of Ontario.

Well my comment was deleted here since apparently we're not allowed to talk about who they are... But yeah, looks like they are all nurses who have been fired or are under investigation.

Not sure why they took their last names off their website. It is possible to find out who they are based on their photos alone.

No I didn’t misunderstand. This rally was not organized nor supported by nurses. A couple of unsafe nurses who are under investigation does not equal a rally for the nurses, so walking “in support” of nurses rights to no not get vaccinated is ridiculous. Don’t worry however, when you test positive for COVID from said rally, the VACCINATED nurses will still be there to look after you

Exactly. MMR, tetanus etc are all required prior to even entering a nursing program. “Mandatory vaccines” were around long before now for anyone in healthcare. If you didn’t have a problem with it then, why now? Just do the right thing!!

A friend of mine who is a health care aide has to take an UNPAID leave if she is not willing to get the vaccine by October 2 …… Doesn't seem to have an option for regular testing
