I think you’ll have to consider your own risk tolerance and use your judgement.
We will not accept trick or treaters at the door.
Our community is having an organized Halloween parade and kids will receive prepackaged treats at the end to minimize the risks for everyone

Halloween is a go at my house. No reason to cancel Halloween If kids can go to school and daycare and play sports regardless of vaccine status. For those that don’t feel comfortable having Halloween at their house can turn their lights off and not participate.

We set up table at bottom of steps to deck. Count number of kids then pass a box to table. Kids took one each.
No contact whatsoever. Lots of contactless ways to shell out treats, it’s amazing some of the ideas and contraptions people have come up with just to have some fun.
Thinking this year using a slide of some sort lots of ways to do it safely. Let kids have their night.
Santa Claus parade just announced it is canceled again this year so give our kids Halloween.

It would be really great to have Halloween!

We will be giving out treats - contactless is the plan unless things change drastically by the end of the month.

Although it's nice to see people still thinking about COVID however if kids can go to school, run around at a wheat king game, play team sports etc. I'm fairly confident that they can have a brief 20 sec interaction with a stranger putting a kit kat bar in a pillow case....

Del you make it sound like unvaccinated people are dirty and are all infected and going to die a horrible death. If you are that worried might just be best to leave the lights off and stay inside and live "naturally"

Its a valid concern and it'll be interesting to see how or if the province addresses. All of the examples you gave have different levels of protection/measures in place. Adults in the schools are to be vaccinated or routinely tested. Kids at the game are sharing the space with vaxed adults. With delta right in the middle of ramping up, I'd be concerned about anyone eligible to be vaxed that isnt and is entertaining/handing out stuff to dozens at their door. Also with anyone in the same boat standing in lines with kids at properties waiting for a chance to get candy.
One of the things we've seen with school is the huge percentage of parents that wear masks even outdoors when dropping their kids off at school. Wouldn't be surprised to see that same spirit follow through to Halloween.

At the end of the day we'll wait to see where case numbers go and watch for provincial guidance. Worst case scenario the candy will go to a good place

given out at our house. Not because of covid but it seems like very few kids come to our house even though we would decorate, not elaborate though but we'd always have a lit pumpkin.
October is a horrid month personally so not in the mood for Halloweeners.
But hope the kiddies are allowed to go. Especially since no Christmas parade again this year

But I imagine people are still being cautious and masking because even though people get vaccinated there have been break through cases? Yes I know that vaccinated people will not get as sick but one never knows how covid will affect anyone.
I know when I shop people keep their distance from each other. But there have been exceptions. Like a woman telling my family member to stand back from her all the while the lady's mask was keeping her chin warm. Oh the irony

We are planning to celebrate Halloween just as we did last year. Treats are already bought and bagged up to hand out. Table will be set up outside, so no kids have to come up stairs or ring bells, etc. Simply walk up to the table. Pair of tongs drop a pre/bagged bag of candy into their bag. I’m fully vaccinated, will be wearing a mask and won’t have any physical contact with trick or treaters. Same as the year before.

If vaccinated people can and are still spreading Covid but are allowed to grind up against one another on the dance floor and enjoy almost everything with little disruption to their lives then I’m pretty sure we can still make Halloween happen for the kids safely with whatever precautions feel comfortable to those willing to participate. And if you don’t want to that’s fine but please leave your lights off.
