sammy said "Exhausted, please tell me I read your post wrong. You’re not actually trying to blame the new bus schedule for someone drinking and driving, are you??
In your scenario, you knew you were not drinking and drove there. It’s YOUR responsibility to stay sober and drive home…. "
I never said I would drive drunk.
I was trying to give an example of what happens when less and less options are available.
There is that song that starts out with “with want of a xxx Etc.
Look at it this way.
No bus. So they decide to walk about 25 blocks to their destination in winter as they have no money for cab. When ready to go home again no bus. No money for cab. On the way home they slip and fall and die due to the cold. For want of a bus.
If buses are your only mode of transportation to and from work if this is no longer an option. How long will they have a job? When they can never be sure if a bus will come or is late etc.
What about young kids who rely on this type of transportation? Do you really want them walking alone at night? Word gets out pretty fast to the monsters in community and believe me there are many.
Same applies with anyone with a disability.
Another point. Why?
Saving money doesn’t make sense. They are paying these bus drivers a full shift to sit and play cards until someone wants a bus. By the way I think bus drivers are great but they have to do something to pass the time like an office person playing cards on computer.
Sitting letting a bus run doesn’t save fuel or the environment. Turning on and off a vehicle especially a bus is bad for the engine.
Keep the buses running on their schedules. Taxes are paid in the city for services like this.
I never understood why buses can’t run on stats or nights. Especially now that there is no restrictions on hour’s business is open
All this talk about saving the environment and not driving your car by walking biking or bus. Guess doesn’t apply to Brandon.
