Trevor B said "is really just the gas companies jacking the prices because they can. I'm sure many will blame the carbon tax for the increase just because they don't blame the gas and oil companies they support. Back in 2008 when oil was $140 it never got this high here, Even for the last month oil was in the $80 range. So now it's $91. And for a 10 to 12 cent increase at one time, there's no excuse other than they can. "
I remember when I started driving (not that long ago by some measures), gas was like 77 cents, and for it to increase by even 3 cents was regarded as outrageous.
It seems like oil and gas has beaten us in to apathy, because a 10 cent jump in price is unfair. There needs to be a lot more regulation in how we, the consumer, can be taken advantage of by this industry. They know we need the product, and in the last 10 years or so they've discovered that they can basically charge whatever they want, and the most we will do is moan about it at the pump while we're filling up.
I hate it.
