With oil over $90 a barrel for the first time in more than seven years, looks like Local stations are making the jump this afternoon… Tempo flipped to 149.9 some time in the last hour or so. Can Tire still at 137.9 as of a couple min ago. Big enough difference that probably worth the trip to a nearby station that hasn’t bumped yet.

is really just the gas companies jacking the prices because they can. I'm sure many will blame the carbon tax for the increase just because they don't blame the gas and oil companies they support. Back in 2008 when oil was $140 it never got this high here, Even for the last month oil was in the $80 range. So now it's $91. And for a 10 to 12 cent increase at one time, there's no excuse other than they can.

The cure for high prices is high prices.  
Combine that with rising costs for other goods and services or what we used to call inflation along with interest rate rises in the near future and eventually there will be a correction.  
When that will occur will depends on lots of global events including politics. If things kick off in the Ukraine then all bets are off for the foreseeable future.  
We’re likely in for a rocky ride.

I remember when I started driving (not that long ago by some measures), gas was like 77 cents, and for it to increase by even 3 cents was regarded as outrageous.  
 
It seems like oil and gas has beaten us in to apathy, because a 10 cent jump in price is unfair. There needs to be a lot more regulation in how we, the consumer, can be taken advantage of by this industry. They know we need the product, and in the last 10 years or so they've discovered that they can basically charge whatever they want, and the most we will do is moan about it at the pump while we're filling up.
