Power outage

About 10 minutes ago our power flickered. There were two bright green flashes in the sky and our power has been out since. We are in the north end. Anyone else lose power or know what happened?

There's quite a few people in the north end who've lost power. Mb Hydro's outage page shows how large an area it is. Approximate time of restoration is 12am.

East of Brandon and I saw the flashes as well, thought it was something on the tv at first. Guess not.

Anyone know the cause of the outage. The bright flashes in the sky were pretty eerie. How long was power out?

I do not know the exact cause of this power outage I looked up some info about what can cause them .
Power flashes -Arcing power lines during storm events interesting read .

Downed lines

Hydro said the outage was a result of a downed power line. It was likely due to ice buildup from the freezing rain. Power came back at approximately 11:30pm.
