My daughter has applied and had several interviews however she is very shy and without experience, a lot of places will not hire. She is wanting to work, just need someone to giver her a chance. Thanks

The best thing you can do for your daughter is encourage her to do callbacks of all the places she sent resumes out to. Instead of applying online perhaps she could apply in person and ask for the manager when she goes to hand in her résumé. A little more time consuming, but they will have an idea of what she looks like right away. She might even get an interview on the spot. Does she have a cover letter and references? She might want to update that.

Callbacks will also increase her confidence.

I saw Kuipers had a sign looking for help today. I’ve seen young kids working there. As well as tastees. Has she applied there?

They are looking for seasonal workers right now, gardening/grass cutting in the landscaping division and their outdoor division is looking for greenhouse/sales associates if the manual labor isnt your childs jam.

Can be difficult for both your daughter and the possible employer. Customer service in some places like being a cashier at some places where required to answer customer questions may be a hard fit same as any food place for serving or fast food where multiple questions to and from are a normal. Places like Livingstone as mentioned and Kuipers, being in a bakery, pizza shop, cook in the back may help as it would limit the amount of interaction for her to be more comfortable in her first job to get her going for future jobs/careers. just a thought

I had this same issue once she gets comfortable in a position it’ll really help her confidence grow. I’d suggest taking a resume to coffee culture on 1st and doing a call back there a week after it’s dropped off if haven’t heard back. It’s a great starter job for a teenager especially a shy one. It was my first job when I moved back to Brandon and I loved it! Good luck.
